Checking your registered email address toggle
You can check your registered email address by following the steps below.

1. Tap the Home/Friends tab > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email address.
3. Your email address will appear below Change your email.

Registering an email address toggle
Registering an email address to your LINE account makes it possible for you to reset your password in the case that you forget it. 

To register an email address: 
1. Tap the Home/Friends tab Settings > Account > Email address.
2. Enter an email address, then tap Next.
3. Enter the verification code or tap the URL in the email that was sent to you.

I can't receive the verification email when registering my email address toggle
If you're not receiving the email with the verification code when registering your email address, it may be that:

• Your email address was not entered correctly.
• The email was sent to your spam, junk, or other folders.
• You have spam filters in place.
Note: In this case, please try again after temporarily disabling them.
E.g. This includes filters for blocking emails that contain URLs, blocking emails from PCs, etc.
• You have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains.
Note: If you have domain filters in place on your email client, make sure that you allow emails from the domain "line.me".

If the issue persists after checking the above, please try tapping Resend verification code to send the email again.

Creating a password toggle
To create a password for your LINE account: 
1. From the Home/Friends or More tab, tap Settings.
2. Tap AccountPassword.
3. Enter a password.
Note: We recommend using a unique password that you don't use with any other websites or services.

Changing your email address/password

I want to transfer my LINE account, but I don’t know my password toggle
Unfortunately, there is no way to check the password you need to transfer your LINE account. If you don't know your password, follow the steps below to reset it:

1. Open LINE and tap Log in.
2. Enter your phone number and tap the arrow.
3. Enter the six-digit verification code.
4. Tap Yes, that's my account.
Note: If you see Yes, transfer my account, tap it followed by Log in with previous number or Log in with email address, then enter your registered information.
5. Tap Forgot your password?
6. Enter the email address registered to your LINE account.

Note: You will not be able to reset your password if you haven't registered an email address to your LINE account.

I want to transfer my account, but I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle

If you are not receiving the password reset email, please check the following:

 

• Is your registered email address entered correctly?

• Did you enter an email address different from the one you registered?

• Are you trying to send the password reset email repeatedly within a short period of time? Please wait approximately 24 hours between attempts.

• Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?

• Do you have spam filters in place? Please try disabling them.

• Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add “line.me” to your list of accepted domains.

• Does the email address you are using comply to RFC standards? The following are examples of email addresses that do not comply to RFC standards.

- Addresses with a dot (.) right before the @ symbol: abcd.@xxx.com

- Addresses with consecutive dots (.): ab..cd@xxx.com

- Addresses that begin with a hyphen (-): -abcd@xxx.com

 

If your LINE account is linked with Facebook, you will be able to transfer it using your Facebook account.

I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle
If you didn't receive the password reset email, please check the following:

• Have you repeatedly tried requesting a password reset email within a short period of time? If so, please wait 24 hours before trying again.
• Was your registered email address entered correctly?
• Did you enter a different email address than the one you registered?
• Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?
• Do you have spam filters in place? If so, please try disabling them.
E.g. Block emails that contain URLs; Block emails sent from computers
• Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add "line.me" to your list of accepted domains.

If you forget your password, but are able to access the account, you can apply to cancel your registered email address. Please tap the link below from within the LINE app of the relevant account.

Changing your email address toggle
From LINE version 6.9.0 or later, you can change your registered email address by following the steps below.
Note: If you're using a version earlier than 6.9.0, update the app to the latest version here.

1. From the Home/Friends or More tab, tap Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email address > Change your email.
3. Enter a new email address, then tap OK.
4. Enter the verification code or tap the URL in the email that was sent to you.
5. Tap Register.

Note:
- If you are unable to register your email address, make sure you didn't enter any extra spaces.
- If your device is locked with a password or pattern lock, you will be asked to unlock it when you change your email address.

Checking/changing your password toggle
Unfortunately, there is no way to directly check your registered password.

If you forgot your password, follow the steps below to change it.
Note: Be sure to write your new password down so you don’t forget it.

1. Tap the Home/Friends tab > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Password.
3. Enter your new password twice, then tap Change password.
Note: If your device is locked with a password or pattern lock, you‘ll be asked to unlock it when you change your password.

Changing your phone number

Changing your phone number toggle
To change your phone number registered to LINE: 
1. From the Home/Friends or More tab, tap Settings > Account.
2. Tap Change next to "Phone number."
3. Tap Change phone number.
4. Enter your phone number and tap Next > OK.
5. Enter the verification code you received via text message and tap Next.

- The same phone number cannot be used to create multiple LINE accounts.
- Please be aware that registering a phone number that was already registered to another account may make the old account inaccessible.

Profile

Profile settings

About profile decorations toggle
The Decorate profile feature lets you use different items to add flair to your profile and give it your own unique spin.
Note:
- This feature is not available on devices with Intel x86 CPUs (e.g. some devices in the ASUS ZenFone series).
- Please contact the retailer where you purchased your device for information about the CPU it uses.

You can decorate your profile with the following items.

• Profile themes
Choose a theme for your profile. Even with a theme selected, you can add/edit a cover photo and decoration items.

• Stickers
Add emoji or the stickers you own to your profile.
Note: You can use the stickers listed below.
- LINE and BT21 official stickers
- Creators' stickers
- Custom stickers
- Message stickers
- Effect stickers

• Widgets
The following widgets are available.
- Counter: Display the date of a special event or the number of days left until it happens.
- Photo frame: Frame your photos and hang them on your profile.
- Social media links: Add links to your other social media accounts.

• Text
Add text to your profile in the color and style of your choice.

• Avatars
Choose an Avatar to add to your profile.
Note: For information on using Avatars, see this Help article.

• Effects
Select an effect and apply it to your entire profile background or use it to doodle.

Decorating your profile toggle
To decorate your profile: 
1. Tap your icon or name at the top of the Home/Friends tab.
2. Tap Decorate.
3. Choose the items that you want to use and decorate your profile.
4. Tap Save.

You can edit the items you added by tapping them > the pencil icon.

To delete decorated items, tap an item > "X" or Remove all at the top of the screen > Remove.

When you decorate your profile, it will be posted to your story. If you don't want your profile decoration to be shared in your story, uncheck Share to stories at the bottom of the Decorate screen.

Changing your cover photo toggle
Give your profile some extra personality by adding a cover photo. You can use any image you like, or a video that's up to 15 seconds long.

To change your cover photo: 
1. Tap your own name at the top of the Home/Friends tab, or tap your profile icon or name on Timeline.
2. Tap your cover photo.
3. At the top of the screen, tap Edit > Camera, Select photo or video, or Decorate profile.
4. Edit the photo or video any way you like, then tap Done.
Note:
- Decorate profile will not appear on devices with Intel x86 CPUs (e.g. some devices in the ASUS ZenFone series). See this Help article for details about the Decorate profile feature.
- For information about the CPU used in your device, please contact your device retailer.

If you want to set a video, you need to trim it and choose which part of the video you want to play.

Whenever you set or change your cover photo, it will be posted to your story. If you don't want your cover photo to be shared in your story, uncheck Share to stories on the editing screen.

About status messages toggle
The status message is a space for users to share their thoughts and feelings on LINE. You can let everyone know how you're doing, or check your friends' status messages from your friend list.

To set your status message: 
1. Tap the Home/Friends or More tab > Settings > Edit profile.
2. Tap Status message.
3. Enter a message, then tap Save.

To go to the Status message settings on your smartphone, tap here.

When you set or change your status message, it will be posted to your story. If you don't want your status message to be shared in your story, uncheck Share to stories on the entry screen.

About LINE Avatar toggle
This feature lets you display yourself as a character in the LINE app. You can create Avatars for yourself and your friends.

The Avatars you create can be used as your LINE profile photo or cover photo, shared with friends, or made to appear in photos and videos using augmented reality (AR) features.

Using LINE Avatar toggle
Follow the steps below to create and use Avatars.

To create an Avatar:
1. Tap your icon or name at the top of the Home/Friends tab.
2. Tap Avatar > Create.
3. Choose one of the options below:
• Skip: Tap Skip at the top of the screen to make a default Avatar appear.
• Gallery: Tap the gallery icon at the bottom right of the screen to create an Avatar based on the photos saved to your device.
4. Select an Avatar from the candidates displayed and tap Add.
Note: After you've created an Avatar, you can add more by tapping "+" on the Your Avatar screen.

Tapping the star icon at the top of the Your Avatar screen sets the Avatar displayed as your main Avatar for your friends to see.

To edit an Avatar you've created:
Tap Edit on the Your Avatar screen. You can change your Avatar's hairstyle, facial features, clothing, and more.

To share an Avatar:
Tap the share icon at the top right of the Your Avatar screen. You can share your Avatar via chats, Keep, Timeline, or other apps.

When you share your Avatar with friends, they can add it to their collection and edit it.
Note: Even if your friends edit the avatar you shared, your original Avatar won't be affected.

To delete an Avatar:
Tap the arrow icon on the Your Avatar screen > "X" on the Avatar you want to delete > the check icon.

Animating your Avatars toggle
To animate an Avatar you've created: 
1. Tap your icon or name at the top of the Home/Friends tab.
2. Tap Avatar > Animate Avatar.
3. At the bottom of the screen, tap the round shutter button.
Note:
- You can make videos by tapping and holding the shutter button.
- You can replace your face with your Avatar's using the front-facing camera.
4. Edit the photo or video any way you like, then tap Download at the bottom left of the screen.

You can change the Avatar displayed on the screen by tapping Change Avatar and selecting a different one, or by tapping See more. Once you've chosen your Avatar, tap Done.

To change your Avatar's animation:
Swipe the options next to the round shutter button. You can change your Avatar's movements and how many Avatars appear on the screen.
Note: Up to three Avatars can be displayed.

When you open the camera screen you can place your Avatar with the new animation you selected.

To change your Avatar's background:
Tap the brush icon at the bottom right of the screen, then take a photo, use a photo saved on your device, or select an image offered by LINE.

What characters can be used for LINE ID? toggle

For LINE ID you can use half-width alphanumeric characters as well as these 3 symbols . - _. Please note you cannot use half-width upper case letters.

Difference between accounts and IDs toggle

A LINE account is defined as the phone number, name, photo, ID, and other information used on LINE. By deleting your account, all of the aforementioned information will be deleted.
 

An ID is a key used to identify LINE users. This is not configured by default when you first start using the service. You can configure one by going to More > Settings > Profile.
 

Important: LINE IDs cannot be changed once configured.
 

With a LINE ID, users who do not know your phone number can easily find and add you as a friend if you exchange IDs with them. If you do not want other users to find you using your ID, you can turn off Allow Others to Add by ID under Profile in the Settings menu.
 

Note: Publicizing LINE IDs on the internet for the purpose of meeting a person for sexual encounters is prohibited by our Terms and Conditions of Use.

Setting a LINE ID toggle

To set an ID:

1. From the Home/Friends or More tab, tap Settings.

You can also open this menu by tapping this link from your smartphone.

2. Tap Edit profile > ID.

3. Enter the ID you want to use and tap Check.

4. Tap Save if you see the message "This ID is available."

 

 Note

- LINE IDs cannot be changed or deleted once set. If you see the message "This ID is unavailable," please try a different one.

I can't set the LINE ID I want to use toggle
If you see the message "This ID is already in use" when trying to set your ID, or if another user shows up when you search the ID you want to use in Add Friends, it means that another user has already taken that ID.

As LINE does not allow duplicates of the same ID, please try setting a different one.

Account deletion

My friends are seeing duplicates of my account toggle
If you create a new LINE account on a new device without deleting the account on your previous device, you will end up having two accounts.

Your old account cannot be deleted if you are unable to use your previous device anymore. Please ask your friends to block your old account in this case.

Deleting your account toggle
First read the important notes below, then delete your LINE account by following the steps at the end of this article.

Important:
- Uninstalling or deleting the LINE app will not delete your account.
- When you delete your account, all related data will also be deleted, including your purchased stickers, Coins, registered phone number, friends, groups, chat history, and registration with other authorized apps (e.g. LINE games, LINE PLAY).
- If you registered your email address to LINE, you will no longer be able to use it to log in to LINE for PC.
- Even if you reinstall LINE, you will not be able to transfer your account, as data cannot be restored from a deleted account.
- If you have a LINE Pay account, you will need to delete it before deleting your LINE account. See this Help article for the steps to delete your LINE Pay account.

To delete your LINE account:
1. Tap the Home/Friends or More tab > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Delete account at the bottom of the screen > Next.
3. After reading and agreeing to the warnings, tap Delete account > Delete.

Can I restore a deleted account? toggle
A deleted LINE account cannot be restored. By deleting your account, all of your purchased stickers and Coins, phone number registered to LINE, friends and groups list, chat history, and registrations with integrated apps (such as LINE Game titles and LINE PLAY) will be deleted. 

IDs will become available for use again once the accounts they are registered to have been deleted.

Why wasn't my account deleted when I deleted the app? toggle

Your account will not be deleted just by uninstalling or deleting the LINE app.

 

To delete your LINE account, verify your phone number from the same device you've been using or transfer your current account to a new device, then delete the account.

I can't delete my account toggle
If you cannot delete your account for any reason (e.g. unable to log in), you can delete it by using the specifications built-in to LINE.

Please note deleting your account will delete all data such as your purchased items, friends and groups list, chat history and registrations with other integrated apps (such as LINE Games and LINE PLAY). This data cannot be recovered.

If you can use the phone number or Facebook account registered to the LINE account you wish to delete, you can automatically delete the account by:
- Creating a new LINE account using your phone number or Facebook account.
- Registering your phone number or Facebook account to an existing LINE account.

If you have both your phone number and Facebook account registered to the LINE account you wish to delete, you will need to register both details to the other LINE account.
If you no longer wish to use LINE after you have completed the above steps, please see here for steps on how to delete your account.

If you can no longer use the phone number or Facebook account registered to the LINE account you wish to delete, you can delete the account yourself if you fulfill the following requirements:

1. You are in possession of the device which was used for the LINE account you wish to delete.
2. You have not uninstalled LINE from this device.
3. You have not created a new LINE account on this device.
4. You can connect to the internet on this device (You can connect via Wi-Fi if you are not connected on a mobile network).
