How to check your registered email address toggle
You can check your registered email address from the app by following the steps below:

1. Tap More > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email address > Change your email.
3. Your email address will appear below the email address entry field.

I can’t use my registered email address and I forgot my password toggle
You can change your registered email address and password yourself from LINE versions 6.9.0 and later.
Note: If your device is locked with a passcode or Touch ID, you will have to enter it when you change your email address.

Registering an email address toggle
Registering your email address to your LINE account gives you access to convenient features such as: 

- The ability to carry over your account when changing to a new device
- LINE STORE
- The PC and iPad versions of LINE

Note: You can still use LINE even if you do not register your email address.

How to register an email address toggle
You can register an email address by following the steps below: 

1. Tap More > Settings > Account > Email address.
2. Enter an email address and password, then tap Register.
3. Enter the verification code or tap the URL in the email that was sent to you.

I can't receive the verification email when registering my email address toggle
If you are not receiving the email with the verification code when registering your email address, please check the following:

1. Is your registered email address entered correctly?
2. Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?
3. Do you have spam filters in place such as the one that blocks emails that contain URLs or blocks emails sent from computers? If so, please try disabling them.
4. Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add “line.me” to your list of accepted domains.

If the issue remains after checking the above, please try tapping Resend verification code to send the email again. If you are still unable to receive the email, you can send us an email from the email address you wish to verify instead using the following steps:

1. Tap Send email.
2. Tap OK in the pop-up.
3. Select the email app that you use for the email address you want to register.
4. Send a blank email. If you are unable to send blank emails, enter LINE in the body.
5. Once verification has been completed, tap OK.

Changing your email address and password

Changing your email address toggle
You can change your email address by following the steps below: 

1. Tap More > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email > Change your email.
3. Enter an email address and password, then tap OK.
4. Enter the verification code or tap the URL in the email that was sent to you.
Note:
- If you cannot register your email address, make sure you did not enter any empty spaces.
- If your device is locked with a passcode or Touch ID, you will have to enter it when you change your email address.

3. Enter your new password two times, then tap OK.

I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle
If you did not receive the password reset email, please check the following:

1. Was your registered email address entered correctly?
2. Did you enter a different email address from the one you registered?
3. Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?
4. Do you have spam filters in place? If so, please try disabling them.
E.g. Block emails that contain URLs; Block emails sent from computers, etc.
5. Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add “naver.jp” to your list of accepted domains.
6. Does the email address you are using comply with RFC standards? The following are examples of email addresses that do not comply with RFC standards.
- Addresses with a dot (.) right before the @ symbol
E.g. abcd.@xxx.com
- Addresses with consecutive dots (.)
E.g. ab..cd@xxx.com
- Addresses that begin with a hyphen (-)
E.g. -abcd@xxx.com
7. Are you repeatedly trying to request a password reset email within a short period of time? If you are locked out of your account, please wait 24 hours before attempting once again.

If you forget your password, but are able to access the account, you can apply to cancel your registered email address. 

Please tap the link below from within the LINE app of the relevant account.

Apply to cancel registered email address toggle
You can change your registered email address and password yourself from LINE versions 6.9.0 and later.


If you're using a version of LINE earlier than 6.9.0, you'll have to apply to cancel your email address.

To cancel your registered email address:
We will cancel the email address and password registered to your account. Please note that we will only cancel your email address and password. Things such as your friends, chat history, and purchase history will not be deleted.

To register an email address and password after your previous one is canceled:
You will have to register a new email address and password yourself after we cancel your email address.


If you are unable to access the relevant LINE account, you will not be able to register an email address or password after we cancel your previous email address. In this case, you will not be able to transfer your LINE account using an email address and password. If you have plans to change your device, please keep this in mind.

Note: You can only register an email address or password from the smartphone version of LINE. You cannot register an email address from the PC version.

To apply to remove your registered email address:
Be sure that the owner of the LINE account in question contacts us with the following steps from the account with the registered email address they want to cancel. If you are unable to access the relevant LINE account, you will not be able to apply to cancel your registered email address.

1. Start LINE and tap More > Settings > Help.
2. Tap Check/change registered information > Email address & password.
3. Tap I can't use my registered email address and I forgot my password under "Check your email address and password."
4. Tap Apply to cancel registered email address.
5. Answer the questions and tap SEND.

We will require some time to confirm all details to cancel your email address. Once the cancellation has been completed, we will contact you at the email address indicated in the Reply Email field on your contact form.

Linking a Facebook account to your LINE account toggle

To link your Facebook account to your LINE account, please follow the steps below:

 

1. Go to More > Settings > Account.

2. Tap Link next to Facebook.

Changing your phone number

Changing your registered phone number toggle
You can only change your registered phone number on the following versions of LINE:

Android versions 6.0.0 and later
iOS versions 6.2.0 and later

If you are using a version of LINE earlier than those above, please update to the latest version.

To change your registered phone number, please follow the steps below:

1. Tap Phone Number.
2. Follow the onscreen prompts and enter the phone number you wish to register.
3. Enter the verification code that was sent to you via SMS.
4. Select either "Using this number for the first time?" or "If you have used LINE on another device." 
5. Configure the settings for Auto Add Friends and Allow Others to Add.

Note: Depending on your device, steps 3 and 4 may not appear.

LINE's specifications do not allow you to create multiple accounts with the same phone number. If you register a phone number that is already registered with a different LINE account, the account that phone number was previously registered with will become inaccessible.

LINE ID

Setting a LINE ID toggle
To set an ID, please refer to the following steps:

1. Go to More > Settings.
You can also open this menu by tapping this link from your smartphone.
2. Tap Profile > User ID.
3. Enter the ID you want to use and tap Check.
4. Tap Register if you see the message "This User ID is available."


Note
- LINE IDs cannot be changed or deleted once set. If you see the message "This User ID is unavailable," please try a different one.
- Publicizing LINE IDs on the internet for the purpose of meeting a person for sexual encounters is prohibited by our Terms and Conditions of Use.

Can I change my LINE ID? toggle
LINE IDs cannot be changed once set. If you wish to do so, you will need to delete your account and create a new one.

Note: By deleting your account, all of your purchased stickers and Coins, phone number registered to LINE, friends and groups list, chat history, and registrations with integrated apps (such as LINE Game titles and LINE PLAY) will be deleted.

I can't set the LINE ID I want to use toggle
If you see the message "This User ID is unavailable" when trying to set your ID, or if another user shows up when you search the ID you want to use in Add Friends, it means that another user has already taken that ID.

As LINE does not allow duplicates of the same ID, please try setting a different one.

What characters can be used for LINE ID? toggle

For LINE ID you can use half-width alphanumeric characters as well as these 3 symbols . - _. Please note you cannot use half-width upper case letters.

Difference between accounts and IDs toggle
A LINE account is defined as the phone number, name, photo, ID, and other information used on LINE. By deleting your account, all of the above information will be deleted.

An ID is a key used to identify LINE users. This is not configured by default when you start using the service. You can configure one by going to More > Settings > Profile. LINE IDs cannot be changed once configured.

With a LINE ID, users who don't know your phone number can easily find and add you as a friend if you exchange IDs with them. If you do not want other users to find you with your ID, you can turn off "Add by ID" under Profile in the Settings menu.

Publicizing LINE IDs on the internet for the purpose of meeting a person for sexual encounters is prohibited by the Terms and Conditions and Use."

Status Message

What is a Status Message? toggle
A Status Message is your space to sum up your thoughts and feelings. You can let other LINE users know how you are doing. 

You can also check your friends' Status Message from your Friends list. 

To set your Status Message, please refer to the following steps:

1. Go to More > tap the profile icon.
2. Tap Status Message.

Delete account

My friends are seeing duplicates of my account toggle
If you create a new LINE account on a new device without deleting the account on your previous device, you will end up having two accounts.

Your old account cannot be deleted if you are unable to use your previous device anymore. Please ask your friends to block your old account in this case.

Deleting your account toggle
To delete your LINE account, please follow the steps below: 

Note: Uninstalling or deleting the LINE app will not delete your account. 

Important
1. Your phone number registered to LINE, friends and groups list, chat history, registrations with integrated apps (such as LINE Games and LINE PLAY), and all your purchased stickers and Coins will be deleted.
2. If you have an email address registered to your account, you will no longer be able to log in to the PC version of LINE with it.
3. Even if you reinstall LINE after deleting your account, you will not be able to carry over the account because your data cannot be restored.
4. If you have a LINE Pay account, you will need to delete it before deleting your LINE account. Please see this article regarding how to do so.

To delete your account, please refer to the following steps:

1. Go to More > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the page.

I can't delete my account toggle
If you cannot delete your account for any reason (e.g. unable to log in), you can delete it by using the specifications built-in to LINE.

Please note deleting your account will delete all data such as your purchased items, friends and groups list, chat history and registrations with other integrated apps (such as LINE Games and LINE PLAY). This data cannot be recovered.

If you can use the phone number or Facebook account registered to the LINE account you wish to delete, you can automatically delete the account by:
- Creating a new LINE account using your phone number or Facebook account.
- Registering your phone number or Facebook account to an existing LINE account.

If you have both your phone number and Facebook account registered to the LINE account you wish to delete, you will need to register both details to the other LINE account.

If you no longer wish to use LINE after you have completed the above steps, please see here for steps on how to delete your account.

If you can no longer use the phone number or Facebook account registered to the LINE account you wish to delete, you can delete the account yourself if you fulfill the following requirements:

1. You are in possession of the device which was used for the LINE account you wish to delete.
2. You have not uninstalled LINE from this device.
3. You have not created a new LINE account on this device.
4. You can connect to the internet on this device (You can connect via Wi-Fi if you are not connected on a mobile network).

Can I restore a deleted account? toggle
A deleted LINE account cannot be restored. By deleting your account, all of your purchased stickers and Coins, phone number registered to LINE, friends and groups list, chat history, and registrations with integrated apps (such as LINE Game titles and LINE PLAY) will be deleted. 

IDs will become available for use again once the accounts they are registered to have been deleted.

Why wasn't my account deleted when I deleted the app? toggle
Deleting the LINE app will not delete your account. 

To delete your LINE account, verify the same phone number on the same device you were using the account on, or carry over the account by selecting Log in or If you have been using LINE on a non-smartphone device only, then delete it manually.
