Logging in and out

I see a verification code to verify my identity toggle
We have added enhanced security to prevent unauthorized logins from the Windows 10 version of LINE.

If you see a verification code when you log in to the Windows 10 version of LINE, you will need it to verify your identity on the smartphone version of LINE.

Please follow the steps below on your smartphone.

1. Star the Windows 10 version of LINE.
2. Enter your email address and password and click Login.
3. A 4 digit verification code will appear.
4. Start the smartphone version of LINE and enter the verification code that appears on the Windows 10 version of LINE.

How do I log out of the Windows 10 version of LINE toggle
To log out of the Windows 10 version of LINE please follow the steps below.

1. Click on the settings icon on the left menu bar.
2. Click Logout.

Logging in with an email address

Logging in with an email address toggle
To log in with your email address, please refer to the following steps:

1. Download the Windows 10 version of LINE from the URL below:

2. Start the Windows 10 version of LINE.
3. Click Email Login.
4. Enter your registered email address and password and click Login.

Note: In order to log in using your email address, you need to register it beforehand.

What should I do if I forgot my password? toggle
If you forgot your password, you can reset it by referring to the following steps:

1. At the bottom of the login screen, click Find Password.
2. Enter you registered email address and click OK.

If you registered an email address from the smartphone version of LINE, you can reset your password from the LINE app.

Registering an email address toggle
If you created a LINE account on your smartphone and wish to use it on Windows 10, you need to register an email address beforehand.

If you signed up on the Windows 10 version of LINE, we recommend registering an email address as a more reliable way to log in.

If you signed up for LINE from your smartphone:
You can register an email address by referring to the following link that is relevant to your situation:

- Android
- iOS

If you signed up on the Windows 10 version of LINE:
For users who did not register an email address when they signed up on the Windows 10 version of LINE, please refer to the following steps to register one:

1. Click the settings icon on the lower left of the screen > Settings.
2. From the Basic tab at the top of the screen, click Email Registration > Not Yet.
3. Enter the email address you wish to register and click Next.
4. Enter the verification code that was sent to the email address you chose to register and click Next.

What should I do if I forgot my registered email address? toggle
If you forgot your registered email address, you can check it by referring to the following steps:

1. Click the settings icon > Settings.
2. From the Basic tab, check the email address that appears in the Email field.

If you registered an email address on the smartphone version of LINE, you can check or even change your email address from the LINE app.

I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle
Please check the following if you are not receiving the password reset email:

- Is your registered email address entered correctly?
- Did you enter an email address different from your registered one?
- Are you trying to send the password reset email repeatedly within a short period of time?

Note: You may not be able to receive the password reset email properly if you repeatedly sent a request for it. Please wait over 24 hours before sending a request again.

- Has the email been delivered to your spam, junk, or other folders?
- Do you have spam filters in place that block emails with URLs or that were sent from a PC? If so, please disable them.
- Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add “line.me” to your list of accepted domains.

- Does the email address you are using comply to RFC standards? 

The following are examples of email addresses that do not comply to RFC standards:

- Addresses with a dot (.) right before the @ symbol: abcd.@xxx.com
- Addresses with consecutive dots (.): ab..cd@xxx.com
- Addresses that begin with a hyphen (-): -abcd@xxx.com

How can I log into my account if my email address is not available? toggle
If you are unable to use your email address and password, you will not be able to log in using an email address. However, if you are using the the smartphone version of LINE, you can log in to your account using either of the following methods:

Logging in with a QR code

How do I log in with a QR code? toggle
By reading a QR code, you can log in to the Windows 10 version of LINE without registering an email address.

1. Start the Windows 10 version of LINE.
2. Click QR Code Login.
3. Start the smartphone version of LINE.
4. Go to More > Add Friends > QR Code
5. Read the QR code that appears on the Windows 10 version of LINE.
6. Tap Login.

The message "Login Successful!" will appear.

If your QR code is no longer valid, click the arrow icon to generate a new one to log in.

Logging in with a phone number

How do I log in with a phone number? toggle
You can log in to your account with a phone number only if you signed up on the PC version of LINE. If you signed up for LINE from the smartphone version, after registering an email address, please log in using either your registered email address or a QR code.

To log in with a phone number, please refer to the following steps:

1. Start the Windows 10 version of LINE and click Phone Number Login.
2. After selecting your country and entering your password, click Login.

If you registered an email address after making a new account on the PC version of LINE, you can reset your password. 

Please refer to the following Help article to reset your password:


If you did not register an email address to your account, you will not be able to reset your password. In this case, please make a new account.

Login errors

Logging in and performance issues toggle
If you are experiencing logging in or performance issues, first check which version of LINE you can use on your PC from here, then try the following. 

Windows, Windows 8, and Mac version of LINE
- Uninstall the PC version of LINE and then reinstall it
- Restart your PC
-Disable any security software or firewalls you have in place temporarily, or allow the LINE application to be used.
-Disable any resident software or customization software such as WindowsBlinds, etc.

Windows 10 version of LINE
- Update the PC version of LINE
- Restart your PC
-Disable any security software or firewalls you have in place temporarily, or allow the LINE application to be used.
-Disable any resident software or customization software such as WindowsBlinds, etc.

Chrome version of LINE
- Uninstall the Chrome version of LINE and then reinstall it
- Update the Chrome browser. If you are using Chrome OS, please also try updating the OS.
- Disable background transmitting apps and extensions
- Clear data such as the cache and browser history

I can't log in with a QR code toggle
Please try the following if you are unable to log in to the Windows 10 version of LINE with a QR code.

I get an error when I enter my email address or password toggle
If you encounter an error when you log in to the Windows 10 version of LINE, it is possible you may have accidentally entered the wrong email address or password.

Please follow the steps below to make sure there are no mistakes with your login information and try logging in once again.

1. Enter your email address and password in a notepad app and ensure the following:
- Make sure there are no extra spaces.
- Enter them in half-width characters.
- As the letters are case sensitive, make sure you entered them correctly.

2. Copy the email address and password you entered in the notepad app.

3. Start the Windows 10 version of LINE and paste your email address and password in their respective entry fields.

If you are unable to resolve the issue with the method above, it is possible the login information you entered and the information registered with LINE may be different.

If you signed up for LINE from the smartphone version, please check your email address by referring to the following link that is relevant to your device:

- iOS

Note: If you signed up from the Windows 10 version of LINE, you will not be able to check or change your email address before logging in to it.

If you are still unable to log in with the correct email address, it is possible you may have accidentally entered the wrong password. In this case, please refer to the following Help article to change your password:

If you encounter an error related to the Allow Login setting when logging in to the Windows 10 version of LINE, please turn this setting ON from your smartphone.

1. Go to More > tap Settings > Account.
2. Turn the Allow Login setting ON.

If you see an error that says "Unable to login due to network issues." when logging in to the PC version of LINE, it is possible you do not have a stable network connection.
