Rangers can possess Abilities that have a variety of effects, such as enhancing themselves and their allies, obstacle effects on enemies, and nullifying obstacle effects.
You can see what Abilities a Ranger has on their info screen. Normal and Ultimate Evolved 8-Star or lower Rangers can have up to 1 Ability, Hyper Evolved Rangers can have up to 2, and 9-Star Rangers can have up to 3.
As an example, here are the recommended Abilities for dealing with obstacle effects that activate in advent stages.

■ Ranger Abilities (Recommended Abilities)
Abilities can be used to defend against obstacle effects in advent stages.
1. Caffeine: Counteracts Deep Sleep in advent stages, keeping you funky fresh and alert! That's a heck of a fine cup of joe!
- Rangers who have Caffeine won't fall asleep if Deep Sleep is triggered.
2. Gas Mask: Counteracts Poison Gas in advent stages, keeping you alive amongst the unfortunate maskless masses!
- Rangers who have Gas Mask won't take damage if Poison Gas is triggered.
3. Guardian Angel: Counteracts Reaper in advent stages. Avoid Death's scythe - much easier than playing board games to cheat Death!
- Rangers who have Guardian Angel won't get knocked out if Reaper is triggered.
4. Eagle Eyes: Counteracts Ink in advent stages. Pierce through the inky veil and keep your attacks on track!
- Rangers who have Eagle Eyes won't be affected by Ink if it is triggered.
5. Stone Cold: Counteracts Siren Song in advent stages. Stone Cold will keep you tied to the mast when you hear the call of the sirens!
- Rangers who have Stone Cold won't be affected by Siren Song if it is triggered.
■ Ability Debuffs
Some Abilities give debuffs such as Stun, knockback, and Silence; and those Abilities are not affected by Knockback Resistance, Silence Resistance, or Stun Resistance stats.
