Using your LINE Pay card (JCB brand)

Can I make revolving or monthly payments?

I can't use my LINE Pay card (JCB brand)

Important: New LINE Pay cards (JCB brand) are no longer being issued.

If you were unable to make a payment, your payment attempt will appear in your Notifications (the bell icon at the top of the LINE Pay main menu).

Note: In some cases, the merchant's name and the reason why you couldn't make the payment will also appear.

If you don't see a payment attempt in your Notifications, it means that your card cannot be used at the merchant.

You may also receive a notification from the LINE Wallet (LINEウォレット) official account, so make sure to check your messages.

Some common reasons for being unable to use your LINE Pay card (JCB brand) include:

• You don't have enough money in your balance.

Note: You cannot use your LINE Pay card (JCB brand) to make payments from your LINE Pay Light balance.

• You haven't finished activating your LINE Pay card (JCB brand).

• The Use card setting is off.

• The For Online Use setting is off.

You may have issues when making payments if:

• You did not select to make a one-time payment.

• You're shopping at a merchant that doesn't accept prepaid cards.

Note: Prepaid cards cannot be used for utility fee payments, or at merchants such as Google, PlayStation Network, dAnime Store, gas stations, and some non-Japanese versions of Amazon.

You may also experience issues such as:

• The total payment amount exceeds your spending limit.

• The LINE Pay administrator has suspended your account (e.g. because someone found your lost card and reported it).

Additionally, use of your LINE Pay card (JCB brand) may not be available due to the merchants usage environment or our regulations.

LINE Money account holders

You can use your LINE Pay card (JCB brand) to make payments at physical and online stores abroad.

LINE Cash account holders

LINE Pay cards (JCB brand) are only accepted at overseas online merchants that are not affiliated with the EU.

If a payment fails because it was attempted at a merchant affiliated with the EU, a message saying that the purchase could not be completed, and identity verification is required will appear in your Notifications (the bell icon at the top of the LINE Pay main menu). In this case, you'll need to convert to a LINE Money account. For more details about LINE Money and LINE Cash accounts, see the following Help article.

About LINE Cash and LINE Money

You will incur a 4% service charge when you use your LINE Pay card (JCB brand) abroad. Also, due to changes in exchange rates, the amount withdrawn from your account when the payment is confirmed may differ from when you purchased the item. If the amount is higher or lower than when you purchased the item, the difference will be withdrawn or refunded to your LINE Pay balance.
