Apply/delete LINE Pay card

Applying for a LINE Pay card toggle
You can apply for a LINE Pay card from the LINE Pay main menu.

To apply for a card, you just need to enter your name and address. Your card will be sent by surface mail to the address you entered in your application, and usually takes around one or two weeks to arrive.

Once you receive your LINE Pay card, you can start using it after you activate it from the LINE Pay main menu.
Note: If you already have a virtual card, you will be restricted from using it to make payments online until you have activated your LINE Pay card.

You can remove the restriction temporarily by going to the LINE Pay main menu, tapping LINE Pay Card, and then switching For online use ON. This will remove the restriction for one hour, after which it will automatically be applied again.

Are there any conditions to meet in order to apply for a LINE Pay card? toggle
As long as you have a LINE account that is registered with a Japanese phone number, you will be able to apply for a LINE Pay card.

I can't get a LINE Pay card issued toggle
Only one LINE Pay card can be issued per LINE account, so if you already have a card, you won't be able to apply for any more.

Also, you may be restricted from having a card issued if you've deleted multiple cards within a certain period of time.

When will I receive my card? toggle
After you've applied for a LINE Pay card, you'll receive a chat notification from the LINEウォレット (LINE Wallet) official account when your card is ready to be mailed out.
Note: It can take a few days to prepare your card. 

When your card is ready, it will be sent via surface mail and should arrive in approximately one to two weeks.

I haven't received my LINE Pay card toggle
When your LINE Pay card is ready to be mailed out, you’ll receive a chat notification from the LINEウォレット (LINE Wallet) official account. You'll then receive your card by surface mail in approximately one to two weeks.
Note: It may take a bit longer depending on your area of residence.

If your card hasn't arrived after two weeks, check your registered address by going to the LINE Pay main menu > Settings > My info. If your address was not entered correctly, delete the LINE Pay card and apply for a new one using your correct address.

My LINE Pay card was stolen/lost/damaged toggle
If your card was stolen, lost, or damaged, please deactivate it by following the steps below.

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap LINE Pay Card.
2. Tap the switch next to Use card.
Note: The switch may not respond if you swipe it instead of tapping it.
3. Tap OK on the "Deactivate your card?" pop-up.

To use a LINE Pay card again, you'll need to delete the deactivated card and apply for a new one.

Deleting your LINE Pay card toggle
If you want to delete your LINE Pay card, you can do so from the LINE Pay main menu. 
Note: Deleting your LINE Pay card does not delete your LINE Pay balance.

You can apply for a new LINE Pay card again, but the card number will change. You'll also be unable to make payments with a virtual card until you have a new card issued.

To delete your LINE Pay card:
1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap LINE Pay Card.
2. Tap Delete card.

What happens to my balance if I cancel my LINE Pay card? toggle
You will still keep your LINE Pay balance even if you cancel your LINE Pay card.

You can resume using a LINE Pay card by reapply for another one.

Having a LINE Pay card reissued toggle
You can have a LINE Pay card reissued by deleting your current card and applying for a new one. To delete your card, go to the LINE Pay main menu and tap LINE Pay Card. Please be aware that your card number will change.

Important: You will be restricted from having another card issued if you apply for multiple cards within a certain period of time.

Rest assured that your LINE Pay balance will be retained, even if you have a card reissued. For more information, see this Help article.

My LINE Pay card has expired toggle
When LINE Pay cards expire, they are not renewed or reissued automatically.

Your LINE Pay card will become invalid on the last day of the month it is due to expire. To continue using your card, you need to apply to have a new one issued.
Note:
- Make sure to securely dispose of your invalid card by cutting it up with scissors.
- Your card number will change when you have a new card issued.

Even if your card expires, you can continue to use your LINE Pay balance with other payment methods.

If you're using your LINE Pay card to make any of the payments listed below, make sure to update your payment method with the merchant as soon as possible. Otherwise, your payment will not be completed and you may no longer be able to use the relevant service or make your purchase.

• Paid monthly services, annual membership fees, etc.
• Reserved items that haven't been shipped
• Ticket purchases
• Online or other purchases for which you've pre-registered your card as the payment method

If your card was registered to Google Pay, you won't be able to continue using it. Follow the steps in this Help article and delete it.

In the future, we plan to stop issuing new LINE Pay cards (including replacements for lost cards) and only issue Visa LINE Pay prepaid cards. Once the schedule for this change is decided, the details will appear under Notifications in the LINE Pay main menu.
