Apple Pay payments

Apple Pay is a service that lets you set up a card on your iPhone or Apple Watch so you make secure payments online or at stores by holding your phone or watch over a terminal.

Note: You can add your Visa LINE Pay credit card/Visa LINE Pay credit card (P+) or Visa LINE Pay prepaid card to Apple Pay.

You can use Apple Pay by adding a Visa LINE Pay credit card/Visa LINE Pay credit card (P+) or a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card.

Note: Your device must support Apple Pay.

Available payment methods

• iD payments

• Visa contactless payments

• Online payments at stores where Apple Pay is accepted

When paying at a physical store, tell the cashier that you want to make a Visa contactless payment or an iD payment, then hold your Apple Pay-compatible device over the scanning terminal.

Note: You need to set a four-digit passcode which you'll be required to enter when making iD purchases of JPY 30,000 or more.

You can use Apple Pay at the following merchants after setting up your card.

Note: For a detailed list of participating merchants, see each link. (Only available in Japanese.)

• iD merchants

• Merchants worldwide that accept Visa contactless payments

• Merchants that accept Apple Pay for online payments

Note:

- Depending on the app or website, you may not be able to use a Visa brand card. Check each app or website for details.

- You may not be able to use your Visa LINE Pay prepaid card at vending machines, gas stations, or some other merchants. For more information, see here. (Only available in Japanese.)

Whether Points can be used with Apple Pay payments depends on which card you have added.

If you're using a Visa LINE Pay credit card or Visa LINE Pay credit card (P+) with Apple Pay

Points cannot be used.

If you're using a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card with Apple Pay

Points can be used. For information about how to make payments using Points, see this Help article.

You will not receive LINE notifications for iD payments made with Apple Pay (linked with your Visa LINE Pay credit card or Visa LINE Pay credit card (P+)) that are less than a certain amount. However, you will receive notifications for payments made with a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card.

If you added a Visa LINE Pay credit card or Visa LINE Pay credit card (P+) to Apple Pay, make sure that:

• There are no issues with your card.

• The device you set your card on supports Google Pay.

If you've checked everything above but are still experiencing the issue, see Sumitomo Mitsui Card's official homepage.

If you added a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card to Apple Pay, make sure that:

• There are no issues with your card and you have a sufficient balance.

• The card is set as your main card on a device that supports Apple Pay. (If it isn't, please make it the main card.)

• You have a four-digit passcode set/entered when you make purchases of JPY 30,000 or more at iD merchants.

• You aren't trying to use Apple Pay to make payments at any of the following:

- Vending machines

- Gas stations

- Some hotels

- Manned highway tollbooths
