Not receiving the verification code via text message

If you're not receiving the verification code sent via text message with the LINE and LINE Pay apps, try the following troubleshooting tips.

• Log in to the LINE Pay app again.

Note: There may be a delay in receiving the text message, so try logging into the LINE Pay app multiple times.

• Check your mobile service provider's settings for receiving text messages. If any blocking settings have been applied, disable them temporarily and try again.

• Check your carrier's setting for receiving international text messages and, turn it on if it is switched off.

Repeatedly failing to verify your identity via text message

If you've repeatedly failed to verify your account via text message and your account was locked, please contact LINE Pay Customer Care. Prepare one of the acceptable documents for verifying your identity listed here and contact us via this Inquiry Form.

Important:

- If you see a message saying that service has been restricted when trying to add money, please use a different method.

To link a bank account, you need to verify your identity with your smartphone and register your bank account for the linked bank account service beforehand. See About the linked bank account service (needed for adding money from a bank account) for more information. Verifying your identity to use LINE Money

It may take up to a week for your identity verification to be approved. Please understand that you cannot add money to your LINE Pay balance from your bank account until this verification has been completed.

To add money to your LINE Pay balance from a bank account, follow the steps below.

Note: If you haven't set a LINE Pay passcode, you need to set one after agreeing to the Terms of Use.

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap "+" > Bank Accounts.

2. Select the bank account that you want to use.

3. Enter an amount and tap Add Money.

4. Enter your LINE Pay passcode.

If you don't have sufficient funds in your bank account, the money will fail to be added and a message will appear in Notifications (the bell icon) at the top of the LINE Pay main menu.

You can add money to your LINE Pay balance from a Seven Bank ATM.

Note:

- The machines only accept paper bills.

- You can add money in increments of JPY 1,000. The minimum you can add each time is JPY 1,000.

- There are different limits set for LINE Money and Cash accounts. For more information, see the following Help article.

Limits for adding, spending, withdrawing, and sending money

To add money:

1. Tap "+" from the LINE Pay main menu.

2. Tap SevenBank ATM > Scan QR code to open your camera.

3. As the Seven Bank ATM menu screen and steps vary by ATM model, follow the step below that matches the screen of the ATM you're using to display the QR code.

• Select スマートフォンでの取引 (Smartphone Transaction).

• Select Recharge E-money > Charge using QR code.

4. Scan the QR code that appears on the ATM to be shown a company number.

5. Enter the company number on the Seven Bank ATM.

6. Insert the money into the ATM.

Once you've finished adding money, the amount will show up in your LINE Pay balance in real time.

Important: After a transaction has been completed, it cannot be canceled.

There are different limits for adding, withdrawing, and spending money depending on whether you're using a LINE Cash or LINE Money account.　However, depending on your account's usage, the actual amounts may differ from the ones shown in the tables below.

To check the limits for your account, go to the LINE Pay main menu > Settings > Balance Types and Limits.
Note:
- Individual limits may also be applied.
- Limits cannot be lowered below their set amounts.
- The daily limits shown in the tables below are based on a day being from 12 am to 11:59 pm (UTC+9).
- If you've reached a daily limit, please try again from 12 am (UTC+9) on the following day.

You won't be able to make payments at PayPay merchants if you exceed their limits, even if you haven't exceeded the limits set by LINE Pay.

Note: Some PayPay merchants have individually set limits.

The Pay bill feature has a limit of up to JPY 300,000 per tax or other government fee payment (not including utility bills) or up to JPY 49,999 per other bill payment. There is no per month limit to the feature.

If you're having issues adding money from your bank account, it may be because:

• You tried during a time when money cannot be added.

You cannot add money when your bank or LINE Pay is undergoing maintenance. You can check maintenance times by going to Notifications in the LINE Pay main menu.

• The registration process for your bank account had not yet been completed.

With some banks, it can take several business days until you can add money after registering an account.

Note: Due to enhanced security, you may be asked to upload documents for identity verification when linking a bank. In this case, you will not be able to add money until the documents have been approved. For details, see this Help article.

• The amount you tried to add was more than the daily limit or less than the minimum amount that can be added.

The limits for adding money from a bank account vary depending on your account usage. To see the current limits for your account, go to the LINE Pay main menu > Settings > Balance Types and Limits.

• Your bank cannot be used with LINE Pay.

• You haven't verified your identity with your smartphone.

There may also be a time lag of several minutes until your money is added. After adding money, make sure you're using a strong internet connection and check to see if the money was transferred after waiting a short time.

If you can't add money from a Japan Post Bank account that was already linked to LINE Pay:

If you tried adding money to LINE Pay from Wednesday, January 13, 2021 or later but weren't able to despite having a sufficient bank account balance, it's possible your bank account was unlinked from the Japan Post Bank side. In this case, delete your bank account and link it to LINE Pay again after referring to the following Help articles.

If you have a LINE Cash account, you can convert it to a LINE Money account and raise your limits by verifying your identity with your smartphone.
Note: See Limits for adding, spending, withdrawing, and sending money for details about each limit.

If you have a LINE Money account, the limits for how much you can use will depend on whether you see Verify ID when you go to the LINE Pay main menu and tap Settings > Balance Types and Limits.

If Verify ID appears on the Balance Types and Limits screen:
You can use up to the limit displayed. Tap Verify ID and verify your identity with your smartphone if you want to raise your limits.
Note: The limit for wire transfers cannot be raised higher than JPY 100,000 per day.

If Verify ID doesn't appear on the Balance Types and Limits screen:
You can separately raise your limits for adding or withdrawing money by turning the settings for each of these features on.
Note: You can turn each feature on or off, but you cannot set your own amount limits or set limits below the standard amounts.

Note:

To add money:

1. Tap "+" from the LINE Pay main menu.

2. Tap Lawson Bank ATM > Scan QR code to open your camera.

3. Select スマホ取引 (Smartphone Transaction) on the Lawson Bank ATM to display the QR code.

4. Scan the QR code that appears on the ATM to be shown a company number.

5. Enter the company number on the Lawson Bank ATM.

6. Insert the money into the ATM.

Once you've finished adding money, the amount will show up in your LINE Pay balance in real time.

Important: After a transaction has been completed, it cannot be canceled.

By registering your device, you'll be able to protect your LINE Pay account even if a third party somehow learned your LINE Pay registered passcode.

If you don't register your device, you will not be able to add money to your balance from a linked bank account or register new credit cards.

To register your device:

1. Enter your postal code and date of birth.

2. Select either Text message (phone number) verification or Credit card verification.

Note: If you selected Text message, tap Send verification code and enter the verification code that is sent to you via text message.

3. Tap Continue.

4. Enter your LINE Pay passcode.

Note: A message saying "You've registered this device with LINE Pay" will be sent to you by the LINE Wallet (LINEウォレット) official account.

If you encountered an error when registering your device, see the information below for the option that applies to your situation.

The "Invalid information entered. Please double-check your details and try again." message appears

Check your postal code and date of birth registered to LINE Pay and enter them again.

The "You've reached the verification code sending limit. Please try again after 24 hours." message appears

You'll be restricted from having a verification code sent via text message if you go over the number of times you can have one sent. The restriction will automatically be removed after 24 hours from when you last failed to complete verification.

Try again after the restriction has been removed. If you can't wait until the restriction is lifted, please contact us via this Inquiry Form.
