Sending money from your LINE Pay balance/LINE Pay Light balance to LINE friends

To send money to your friends on LINE, see the following information.
Note:
- Some labels may differ depending on the device you're using and your version of the LINE app.
- If you haven't set a LINE Pay passcode, make sure to set one first by going to Settings > Passcode.
- We've confirmed cases of people accidentally sending money to a friend whose name or profile icon looks similar to the intended recipient. Be sure to carefully check the chat that you're using before sending money.

Sending money from a LINE chat

1. From a chat, tap "+" > Transfer > Send money.
2. Enter the amount of money to send, then tap Next.
Note: If you're using a LINE Money account, you can prioritize sending money from your withdrawable LINE Pay balance by entering a check for this option.
3. Enter a message (optional), select an image, then tap Send money.
4. Make sure the friend you're sending money to and the amount are correct, then tap OK.
5. Enter your LINE Pay passcode.

Sending money from the LINE Pay main menu

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Send Money > Send money under Send money with LINE.
2. Choose a friend to send money to.
3. Enter the amount of money to send, then tap Next.
Note: If you're using a LINE Money account, you can prioritize sending money from your withdrawable LINE Pay balance by entering a check for this option.
4. Enter a message (optional), select an image, then tap Send money.
5. Make sure the friend you're sending money to and the amount are correct, then tap OK.
6. Enter your LINE Pay passcode.

After completing the steps above, the sent amount will be deposited in your friend’s LINE Pay balance or LINE Pay Light balance.
Note: A notification message that you sent money will be shared in the chat between you and your friend.

Important:
- If your friend hasn't updated their LINE app to the latest version, the money won't appear in their balance after receiving it with their LINE Pay Light balance.
- If your friend hasn't signed up for LINE Pay, the transfer will be completed once they do.
- If your friend doesn't sign up for LINE Pay within seven days of you sending them money, the transfer will be canceled.
- When a transfer is canceled, the amount is returned to your LINE Pay balance or LINE Pay Light balance.
- With LINE Pay, there are limits to the amount of money you can spend, as well as send, transfer, or withdraw per day from your LINE Pay balance and LINE Pay Light balance. For more details about limits, please see the following Help article.

What happens if I send money from my balance to a LINE friend who hasn't signed up for LINE Pay?

Requesting money

You can use LINE Pay to ask your LINE friends to send money to your LINE Pay account.

To request money, follow the steps below.

Note: Some labels may differ depending on the device you're using and your version of the LINE app.

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Send Money > Request transfer under Send money and Bonus with LINE.

Note: From a chat room, tap "+" > Transfer > Request money or Bonus, and continue from step 3.

2. Tap the friends you want to send the request to, then tap Next.

3. Enter the amount you want to request, then tap Next.

4. Enter a message (optional), select an image, then tap Request transfer from friends.

After completing the steps above, a money request will be sent to your friends. When a friend sends the money you requested, the amount will be deducted from their LINE Pay balance or LINE Pay Light balance and added to yours.

The daily transfer limit is JPY 100,000. This limit includes money requests. You can still request money once you have reached this limit, but you won't be able to receive the money.

For example:

On April 1, person A sends person B JPY 100,000. On the same day, person A requests JPY 10,000 from person C. In this case, person C will not be able to send person A the money because person A has reached their limit for the day.

Limits for adding, spending, withdrawing, and sending money

There are different limits for adding, withdrawing, and spending money depending on whether you're using a LINE Cash or LINE Money account.　However, depending on your account's usage, the actual amounts may differ from the ones shown in the tables below.

To check the limits for your account, go to the LINE Pay main menu > Settings > Balance Types and Limits.

Note:

- Individual limits may also be applied.

- Limits cannot be lowered below their set amounts.

- The daily limits shown in the tables below are based on a day being from 12 am to 11:59 pm (UTC+9).

- If you've reached a daily limit, please try again from 12 am (UTC+9) on the following day.

You won't be able to make payments at PayPay merchants if you exceed their limits, even if you haven't exceeded the limits set by LINE Pay.

Note: Some PayPay merchants have individually set limits.

The Pay bill feature has a limit of up to JPY 300,000 per tax or other government fee payment (not including utility bills) or up to JPY 49,999 per other bill payment. There is no per month limit to the feature.
