Making wire transfers

You can only make wire transfers if you have a LINE Money account.

Note:

- If you have a LINE Cash account and want to use this feature, you'll need to verify your identity on LINE Pay and change to a LINE Money account.

- You need to update LINE to version 10.2 or later to make wire transfers.

You can make a wire transfer to a bank designated by you or the recipient by following the steps below.

Note: Some labels may differ depending on the device you're using and your version of the LINE app.

To make a wire transfer to a bank of your designation:

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Send Money.

Note: From a chat, tap "+" > Transfer > Send money or Bonus > Transfer to bank account on the Money or Bonus transferred screen, and continue from step 3.

2. Under Transfer to bank account, tap Send money.

3. At the top of the screen, tap the Account number tab.

4. Enter the name registered to the recipient’s account (in full-width katakana characters), as well as the bank name, account type, account number, and your name, then tap Next.

5. Enter the amount you want to transfer, then tap OK.

6. Tap Continue, check the transfer information, then tap OK.

7. Enter your LINE Pay passcode.

8. If necessary, share a screenshot via Share, or tap Close.

Note: If you have an iOS device, this feature requires iOS 15.0 or later.

To make a wire transfer to a bank of the recipient's designation:

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Send Money.

2. Under Transfer to bank account, tap Send money.

3. At the top of the screen, tap the Text message/Email tab.

4. Enter the recipient's account name (in full-width katakana characters), phone number or email address, and your name, then tap Next.

5. Enter the amount you want to transfer, then tap OK.

6. Tap Continue, check the transfer information, then tap OK.

7. Enter your LINE Pay passcode.

8. If necessary, share a screenshot via Share, or tap Close.

The recipient will get a text message from the phone number "03-4405-6034" or an email from the address "linepay_do_not_reply@line.me".

They can designate a bank after they complete one-time password authentication via the text message or email.

Note: If one-time password authentication fails multiple times, the wire transfer will be canceled.

To check the history or status of your wire transfers:

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Send Money.

2. Tap Transfer history.

My wire transfer wasn't deposited in the recipient's bank account the following business day

I made a mistake in the bank account information for a wire transfer

If you tried to make a wire transfer to a bank account that doesn't exist:

The transaction will be canceled seven days after the transfer was made. Once the transaction is canceled, the amount you transferred and the transfer fee will be returned to your LINE Pay balance.

If you made a wire transfer to an existing bank account:

You can apply to have it reversed. If the transfer was made to an email address or phone number, you'll need to check the recipient's bank information.

Note:

- You cannot apply to have a transfer reversed if you don't know the recipient's bank information.

- There is a service fee of JPY 660 (tax included) per transfer reversal.

- In cases where a transfer cannot be reversed (such as when the recipient does not give their consent), you will not be charged the transfer reversal service fee.

- The bank transfer service fee of JPY 176 (tax included) is non-refundable.

Limits for adding, spending, withdrawing, and sending money

There are different limits for adding, withdrawing, and spending money depending on whether you're using a LINE Cash or LINE Money account.　However, depending on your account's usage, the actual amounts may differ from the ones shown in the tables below.

To check the limits for your account, go to the LINE Pay main menu > Settings > Balance Types and Limits.

Note:

- Individual limits may also be applied.

- Limits cannot be lowered below their set amounts.

- The daily limits shown in the tables below are based on a day being from 12 am to 11:59 pm (UTC+9).

- If you've reached a daily limit, please try again from 12 am (UTC+9) on the following day.

Payments made at PayPay merchants are subject to the maximum limits set by PayPay.

You won't be able to make payments at PayPay merchants if you exceed their limits, even if you haven't exceeded the limits set by LINE Pay.

Note: Some PayPay merchants have individually set limits.

The Pay bill feature has a limit of up to JPY 300,000 per tax or other government fee payment (not including utility bills) or up to JPY 49,999 per other bill payment. There is no per month limit to the feature.
