The code payment feature lets you pay at participating merchants by scanning a LINE Pay QR code/bar code at the checkout register.

Note: QR codes/bar codes on your smartphone are renewed every five minutes. Be sure to display your code just before making your payment.

To make a code payment, see the steps below.

Paying by showing the My Code screen in LINE Pay at a register

1. Open LINE, then tap the Wallet tab at the bottom right of the screen to open LINE Wallet.
Note: If you're using the stand-alone LINE Pay app, a screen for using My Code will appear when you open the app.
2. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Pay.
3. Enter your passcode.
Note:
- You won't need to if it's already entered when you open LINE Pay.
- Face ID and Touch ID are also supported. They can be turned on from the LINE Pay main menu > Settings > Passcode.
4. Pay by showing the My Code screen and having it scanned at the register.
Note: Codes are renewed every 5 minutes.

Paying by scanning the QR code at a register with LINE Pay

1. Tell the cashier you're paying with PayPay.
2. Open LINE, then tap the Wallet tab at the bottom right of the screen to open LINE Wallet.
3. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Pay > Scan.
4. Hold your device so that the PayPay QR code or barcode you're shown fits in the frame, then scan it.
5. Confirm the displayed information, then pay.

If you're unable to make a payment at a store that accepts code payments, it may be due to one of the following reasons.

Note: See Making code payments for more information.

• Your device is set to display large text.

Tap the on-screen barcode or QR code to enlarge it, then try making the code payment again.

• You're connected to a Wi-Fi network.

You may get a security error if you're connected to a store's Wi-Fi network. Disconnect from the Wi-Fi network and try making the payment once again.

• Your Visa LINE Pay credit card or Visa LINE Pay credit card (P+) was not registered to LINE Pay properly (for using Add & Pay as your payment method).

Note: If you want to use your balance to make payments, change your payment method to My balance on the My Code screen.

• The code has expired.

Codes are only valid for five minutes. Tap Refresh and try making the payment again with a new code.

• You don't have enough money in your balance

If you don't have enough money in your LINE Pay balance and your LINE Pay Light balance, try making the code payment again after adding money to your LINE Pay balance.

Note: You can check your balance from the My Code screen and the LINE Pay main menu.

• You didn't select a payment method.

You need to select a payment method the first time you make a code payment. Select My balance or Add & Pay next to Payment method, read the important notes, then tap OK.

• Your screen is too dark or the code is not fully displayed.

Your code cannot be scanned if your screen's brightness is set too low. Make sure to increase the brightness before making a My Code payment. Also, your code may not fully appear depending on the size of your smartphone's screen. In this case, adjust the screen so your code is displayed completely.

• The cashier at the store didn't select LINE Pay or PayPay as the payment method.

At LINE Pay merchants, tell the cashier that you are paying with LINE Pay. If you're paying by scanning a PayPay QR code, tell the cashier that you are using PayPay.

Note:
- You cannot pay by having your LINE Pay barcode scanned at the register of a PayPay merchant.
- You may not be able to make code payments at some PayPay merchants, even if they accept making payments by scanning a QR code.
