With some LINE services (e.g. LINE STORE), you can make payments even if you don't have a LINE Pay account.

To purchase products at online LINE Pay merchants, refer to the steps below.

If you have a LINE Pay account:

1. Select LINE Pay on the merchant's checkout page.

Note: If you receive a payment request in a LINE chat from the merchant, you can pay by accessing the link inside only if you're using LINE with a valid Japanese mobile phone number. For details, see Making payments from LINE chats.

2. LINE Pay will open on your smartphone.

3. From the payment screen, select your payment method, then tap Pay [amount].

4. Tap OK and enter your LINE Pay passcode.

Note:

- Depending on the merchant, you may be taken to a payment completion page where you will be required to take further steps to complete the order.

- Identity verification for online shopping may be required.

If you are not signed up for LINE Pay:

1. Select LINE Pay at checkout.

2. Register a phone number to your LINE account if you have not done so.

Note: You cannot make payments unless you have a phone number registered to your LINE account.

3. Enter your credit card details.

4. Select whether or not you want to sign up for LINE Pay.

Note: If you choose to sign up for LINE Pay, set a passcode.

5. Agree to the conditions.

6. Tap Pay [amount].

Note: Depending on the merchant, you may be taken to a payment completion page where you will be required to take further steps to complete the order.

When the payment has been completed, you'll receive a message on LINE from LINE Pay with the transaction details.

You can make a payment by accessing the link sent to you in a LINE chat from a LINE Pay merchant.

To make a payment:

1. In the chat, tap 支払う (Pay) or 支払い用URL (Payment URL).

2. LINE Pay will open.

3. Check the amount and tap Pay [amount] on the payment screen that appears.

4. Tap OK and enter your LINE Pay passcode.

With some LINE services (e.g. LINE STORE), you can make payments without signing up for LINE Pay as long as you're using the LINE app and agree to the necessary terms and conditions of use. For the steps to do so, see this Help article.

When a payment is completed, you'll receive the transaction details via a chat message from the LINE Wallet (LINEウォレット) official account.

If you're not able to make purchases with your credit card, it may be due to one of the following reasons.

• Your card information is invalid.

• There was a temporary error.

• The fraud prevention system was activated.

• Your card expired.

If a payment fails when using LINE Pay, it's possible:

• You're not using the latest version of the LINE or LINE Pay app.

• You didn't complete the payment process on LINE Pay within 5 or 20 minutes.

• You didn't select Agree on the payment screen.

Also, with some apps and browsers, you may not be able to complete a payment if the screen closes in the middle of making a payment. If this occurs, select Continue on the payment pending screen that appears right after making the payment.

If the LINE Pay payment screen doesn't appear after tapping Continue, log in to LINE from the link at the bottom of the screen. The LINE Pay payment screen will appear when you tap the notification message that appears after logging in to LINE.

Note: If the link to the login screen doesn't work, use your device's browser (e.g. Safari), or another browser (e.g. Chrome).

Debit Payments are subtracted immediately from your bank account linked to LINE Pay.

You can make debit payments if the Bank Account option appears on the payment screen.

If you want to change the bank account you use for making debit payments, you can do so by selecting Change from the payment screen.

Important:

- Accepted bank accounts vary by merchant.

- If the Bank Account option doesn't appear on the payment screen, you will need to register a bank account by selecting Add.

- Due to enhanced security, you may be asked to upload documents for identity verification when linking a bank.

If your balance doesn't appear on the payment screen, it means you linked a bank account that cannot be used for that merchant. Please try again after adding a different bank account.

If you want to receive a refund for a payment that failed due to a bank’s delayed response, please contact Customer Care.

The pre-approved payment feature lets you make payments automatically, so you don't have to verify your LINE Pay passcode each time you use a vending machine or make regular payments at an online merchant.

Note: When using this feature at a participating merchant for the first time, you need to accept the terms of agreement.

You can set your payment method the first time you make a pre-approved payment at a merchant. Depending on which methods the merchant offers, you can choose to use:

• Your balance.

• Add & Pay.

• Debit payments.

At merchants that accept payments using Points, you can also choose to use your Points first. However, if you want to change your payment method or the Point usage setting, you need to unlink the pre-approved payment by going to Settings on the LINE Pay main menu > Pre-approved payment and set your payment method again.

If you're having issues with online payments, see the following troubleshooting tips.

• You may be able to resolve the issue by updating the LINE or LINE Pay app to the latest version.

• With some apps and browsers, you may not be able to complete a payment if the screen doesn't display correctly or closes in the middle of making a payment. In such cases, select Continue on the page that appears directly after making the payment. If the Continue button doesn't work, log in to LINE from the link at the bottom of the screen. The LINE Pay payment screen will appear after logging in to LINE and tapping the notification message that appears.

Note: If the link to the login screen doesn't work, try using another browser (e.g. Safari on your device, Chrome).

• All payments need to be completed within 5 or 20 minutes. If more than the stipulated amount of time has passed since you started making a payment, you will need to start over from the beginning.

• If LINE Pay shows a transaction in your payment history but the merchant has not completed the transaction by the following day, contact the merchant about the transaction status.

If you've specified your LINE Pay account as the account that money is withdrawn from in a LINE financial service, you're using the pre-approved payment feature.

If a pre-approved payment fails, you'll be notified of the name of the merchant or relevant service via a chat message from the LINE Wallet (LINE ウォレット) official account.

You can check the status of your pre-approved payment method setting by either going to Settings on the LINE Pay main menu > Pre-approved payment, or by tapping this link from your smartphone. However, you won't be able to check your set payment method for some merchants (e.g. LINE Pocket Money) from the LINE Pay main menu, depending on the merchant. In this case, check the settings screen on the merchant's service.

After checking your pre-approved payment method, check the reason your payment failed below.

The pre-approved payment period expired

Your pre-approved payment will be canceled if a certain period of time has passed since you set it or the last payment was made. You can check the status of your pre-approved payment link by going to Settings on the LINE Pay main menu > Pre-approved payment, or by tapping this link from your smartphone. If your pre-approved payment was canceled, please link your pre-approved payment again on the merchant's page.

Insufficient LINE Pay balance

This reason appears if you had your LINE Pay balance set as your pre-approved payment method. Make sure to check your LINE Pay balance and add enough money to make your payment.

Insufficient bank account balance for a debit payment

This reason appears if you had debit payments set as your pre-approved payment method. Make sure to check your bank account balance and add enough money to make your payment.

Note: Support is only available in Japanese.

If you set your registered credit card as your payment method

Check the expiration date on your credit card to see if it expired. If you have a new card, try registering it after deleting the expired card. For the steps to add/delete a credit card, see the following Help article.

Adding/deleting a credit card

If your credit card hasn't expired, it's possible you exceeded your spending limit, or the fraud prevention system was activated. In any of these cases, please contact your credit card company directly.

The merchant/amount in the chat message you received were unfamiliar
