Migrating balance to PayPay

There is now a feature that lets you migrate your LINE Pay balance to your PayPay balance. To use this feature, you need to download the PayPay app and log in.

Note: There are no fees for migrating your LINE Pay balance to PayPay.

If you have auto deposit enabled as a method for adding money to your LINE Pay balance, an auto deposit may be made to your LINE Pay balance after migrating it to PayPay. Check and turn off auto deposit before migrating your balance to PayPay.

Please note that migrating your LINE Pay balance to PayPay does not count against your usage limit set on PayPay. For information regarding usage limits set on PayPay, see the following PayPay Help page.

You need to download the PayPay app and log in to use this feature.

To migrate your LINE Pay balance to PayPay:

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Migrate balance.

2. Add a check to agree to the terms and conditions and tap Next.

3. After moving to the PayPay app, finish linking it with LINE Pay.

4. After moving back to the LINE app, read the notes on the "Balance migration to PayPay" screen and add a check mark to "Agree to all of the above and migrate balance."

5. Tap Migrate balance.

Once the migration process is completed, you'll receive a chat notification from the LINE Wallet (LINEウォレット) official account.
Note: The migration may take some time to process.

The App Store opens when migrating your LINE Pay balance to PayPay

Some users are experiencing an issue where they are redirected to their smartphone's app store instead of the PayPay app after agreeing to transfer their balance to PayPay, preventing them from proceeding.

To proceed:
1. Close the app store.
2. Return to your device's browser (e.g. Safari).
3. Tap OPEN next to the "Open in the PayPay app" message that appears in the browser.

After moving to the PayPay app, you'll be able to migrate your balance.

You can migrate your LINE Pay balance to PayPay only between January 27 and April 23, 2025. After April 23, 2025, this option will no longer be available.

If you have a LINE Pay balance after the migration period ends, have it refunded to your bank account following LINE Pay's end of service.

Your balance type will vary depending on whether you have completed identity verification on PayPay and LINE Pay. Your balance type after migrating to PayPay will be as follows.

If you haven't finished verifying your identity on PayPay:

Your LINE Pay balance will be migrated to your PayPay Money Lite balance, regardless of whether you have verified your identity on LINE Pay.

If you've finished verifying your identity on both LINE Pay and PayPay:

Your LINE Money account balance will be migrated to your PayPay Money balance.

If you haven't finished verifying your identity on LINE Pay but have done so on PayPay:

Your LINE Cash account balance will be migrated to your PayPay Money Lite balance.

Important: As of January 6, 2025, applications for LINE Pay identity verification are no longer being accepted.

Please note that your LINE Pay Light balance will be migrated to your PayPay Money Lite balance.

Balance types on PayPay

PayPay Money:

Money from this PayPay balance type can be sent to bank accounts.

PayPay Money Lite:

Money from this PayPay balance type cannot be sent to bank accounts.

You cannot specify an amount for migration.

When migrating your LINE Pay balance to PayPay, up to a limit of JPY 20,000 will be transferred in one lump sum.

You can migrate up to JPY 20,000 a day, to a total of up to JPY 100,000.

If you have any remaining balance over the limit, use it to make payments or wait to have it refunded to your bank account following LINE Pay's end of service.

You cannot migrate your LINE Points with the feature for migrating your LINE Pay balance to PayPay. However, you can exchange your LINE Points for PayPay Points by opening LINE and tapping the Wallet tab > LINE POINT CLUB > Use.

• PayPay is unable to receive your balance for some reason.

• The LINE Pay payment failed.

• The request was not completed successfully due to system load or other reasons.

If you have auto deposit enabled as a method for adding money to your LINE Pay balance, an auto deposit may be made to your LINE Pay balance after migrating it to PayPay. Before using the balance migration feature, check and turn off auto deposit if you don't want an auto deposit to be made.

You can migrate your balance to PayPay up to JPY 20,000 per day, and multiple migrations are allowed up to a total of JPY 100,000. Please migrate your balance again the following day or later.
