LINE

To use LINE Money, you need to verify your identity with your smartphone, which you can do by following the steps below.
Note: If you received a chat message from the LINE Wallet (LINEウォレット) official account requesting a regular update of your personal information, you can also update it by following these steps.

1. Open LINE and tap the Wallet tab > LINE Pay.
2. Tap Settings > Balance Types and Limits.
3. Tap Verify ID next to Limits after identity verification.
Note:
- Tap here to go to LINE Pay identity verification from your smartphone.
- If you haven’t set a passcode, you need to set one after agreeing to the Terms of Use.
- Your identity verification request will be canceled if you unsuccessfully try to transfer your LINE account (e.g. after changing devices).
- Use the latest version of LINE to verify your identity with your smartphone.
- This option may not be available on some devices.

Acceptable forms of identification
You need to use one of the photo IDs listed below for verifying your identity with your smartphone.
Note: We cannot accept your application without one, so make sure to have one ready before applying.

For Japanese citizens or Special Permanent Residents:
• Driver's license
• Driving history certificate (運転経歴証明書)
• My Number (Individual Number) Card
Note:
- Individual Number notification cards are not accepted.
- If you're verifying your identity with your My Number Card, you can either use the Touch to verify (by scanning the card's IC chip) or the Take photos to verify options.
• Special permanent resident certificate
Important: As of November 24, 2022, we no longer accept Japanese passports.

For foreign residents (16 or over):
You need to apply with your residence card so that we can confirm your period of stay and other details. (This does not apply to Special Permanent Residents.)
Note:
- If your period of stay will end soon, we may not be able to accept your application.
- Even if you have a My Number Card, you cannot use the Touch to verify option (by scanning the card's IC chip).

Taking a photo of the side of your ID to show its thickness
• Place your ID on a flat surface, such as a floor or table, with its front facing up.
Note: Please take the photo with a single dark color as the background.
• Tilt your smartphone so that the corners of your ID align with the four corners of the outline shown on the camera screen.
• When your ID matches the outline, the corners of the outline will turn green and the photo will be taken automatically.
• Confirm that the thickness of the lower part of your ID appears clearly in the photo.
Note: Under some usage conditions, a different method for taking the photo may be shown. If so, follow the on-screen instructions to take the photo.

After you've finished verifying your identity with your smartphone
You'll receive a notification from the LINE Pay identity verification (LINE Pay本人確認) account. You'll then be able to withdraw money and use the other LINE Money features.

Entering your name

• On the Select name type pop-up, select the way your name is written on your ID (Kanji, Alphabet, or Kanji and alphabet).

• Make sure to enter it exactly as it appears on your ID.

• Only enter a middle name in the Middle name field if you're a foreign resident with one on your ID.

• If your ID shows your name written in more than one way (e.g. married name, maiden name, real name, common name), choose only one of the names to enter in the kanji name fields.

• Make sure the reading of the name you enter in the katakana name fields matches the name you entered in the kanji name fields.

Entering your address

• Enter the details of your address (e.g. apartment/building name, room number) exactly as they are written on your ID.

Note: If the address on your ID has been updated, we will review the latest address that appears.

• Enter your street, block number, and room number only once.

For example: If your address is "●●町3-2-1", do not enter it as "●●町3丁目3-2-1". (The city block (丁目) is entered twice.)

Taking photos of your ID

Please make sure:

• Your entire ID is visible and all the details are clear.

• There is no glare in the photo of your ID.

• You take photos of both sides of your ID if required.

Note: We cannot accept a photo of only the front or back of the ID, or photos of one side from two different IDs.

• If you're a foreign resident, you verify your identity with your residence card so we can confirm your period of stay and other details.

Note: This doesn't apply to Special Permanent Residents.

• That when you're taking a photo of the thickness of your ID, to place it on a surface where its thickness can be confirmed, such as a floor or table, and have the entire ID appear in the photo.

If you can't tap the Confirm button

The Confirm button will be grayed out and cannot be tapped if there are fields left blank. Make sure all fields (e.g. occupation, name in katakana, intended purpose) are filled out completely.

If you're having issues when taking photos of your ID

Please make sure:

• The photo is taken in a well-lit location, and the picture of your face and all of the information on your ID is clearly visible.

• To take the photo with a single dark color as the background.

• Your ID fits just inside the outline on the screen.

• The photo is taken directly facing your ID.

• You keep both of your elbows in place to minimize shaking as much as possible.

Also, if your ID is worn or has scratches on it, it may be difficult to recognize the photo of your face or other information on it. If you have more than one of the IDs that we specify, please try using one that's relatively new.

If you're having issues when taking photos of your face

Please make sure:

• You're taking the photo in a well-lit location.

• To hold your smartphone directly in front of your face. (Don't hold the camera under your face.)

• You take off your glasses or mask when taking the photo.
