About WEBTOON
WEBTOON is the home of an extensive library of webcomics, where you can enjoy unlimited reading across all genres, no matter what you’re into.
WEBTOON Originals update every day so there’s new content whenever you log on. If you have your own story to share, you can publish your work on CANVAS, home to a community of thousands of independent creators. With new episodes added every day, there’s always something new to read!
The WEBTOON app is free to download and use! WEBTOON exclusive Original series are free to read, and ongoing series are updated weekly.
You can purchase Coins to read the latest episodes before anyone else with Fast Pass. Fast Pass lets you read the latest episodes earlier than the regular release date. Look for episodes that display the Fast Pass icon, and you can access them with Coins. If you would like to wait, all Fast Pass episodes become free after a specific period of time.
Some of our completed series are available through Daily Pass. For each Daily Pass series, you can unlock one Daily Pass episode each day. Each unlocked DP episode will be available for 14 days. You can also unlock the episodes using Coins, and these episodes will be available to you for as long as the series is on WEBTOON.
The WEBTOON app can be accessed on any iOS or Android device. The app is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. The WEBTOON website can be accessed on any web browser.
With the WEBTOON app, you can download episodes on mobile devices to read your favorite WEBTOON stories anywhere, even offline! As a heads up, data rates may apply, and the performance of the app may vary depending on your device and network connection.
If you experience app performance issues such as crashes or images failing to load, please try these instructions:
1. Clear cache.
- Tap ‘MORE’ on the bottom right of the home screen.
- Tap on ‘SETTINGS’.
- Scroll down to the 'OPTION' section.
- Tap on ‘Clear Cache’.
- Close the WEBTOON app and any other apps before restarting WEBTOON.
2. Check your network connection.
- WEBTOON pages may not open or start properly when your network connection is unstable. Contact your network service provider if you are unable to connect to your network.
3. Delete and reinstall the app.
- If clearing the cache does not resolve the issue, we recommend that you reinstall the app. If you continue to experience the same error after reinstalling, contact us at Customer Care so we can look into the issue.
Account/Log-in
Our email logins are case sensitive, so make sure you are inputting the correct case-sensitive email address that you used to first register.
Alternatively, you may have created an account using social media login (Google, Facebook, Twitter, LINE), instead of email login. Try logging in again using the original sign-up method.
1. If you signed up using an email address:
- Click ‘Forgot Password?’ on the login screen.
- Type your email address, click ‘Send’, then follow the instructions.
2. If you signed up using a social media account (Facebook, Twitter, Google, LINE):
- You cannot reset your password for your social media account on WEBTOON.
- Please reset or change your password directly on the respective social media platform.
You can delete your account from the APP, desktop or mobile website.
To delete your account from the mobile app, please click on the Delete Account link.
Note: If your account was created using a Google account, we recommend that you use the desktop or mobile web browser to delete your account.

APP: Go to the 'More' tab and click 'Settings.' Select 'Account' after logging in and click 'Delete Account.'

※ Coins remaining on your account will be permanently deleted upon account deletion.
※ By deleting your account, you will also lose access to all digital content including your unlocked episodes. Once deleted, your access cannot be restored.
※ Comments are not deleted automatically when your account is deleted. To delete your comments before deleting your account, follow these instructions.
Mobile: You can delete any comments by going to the ‘MY’ tab and tapping on the ‘COMMENTS’ section.
Desktop: You can delete any comments by going to the ‘Comment’ menu after logging in
※ If you have any series published on Canvas, you must delete them first to delete your account.
※ If you have a WEBTOON TRANSLATE account, please first delete your account from the “My Profile” page on the WEBTOON TRANSLATE PC site to proceed further. ※ WEBTOON is not obligated to delete any remaining comments or CANVAS episodes after account deletion.
※ Once you delete your account, your account profile and subscription history will be deleted permanently and become unrecoverable.

Sign in with Apple is only available on PC, Mobile Web, and Apple devices with iOS 13 and above.
If you are using an iPhone, you can use the guest-user feature to purchase Coins. However, please note that Coins purchased using iOS guest login are not saved to a WEBTOON account, and therefore may be lost if you log out. Additionally, user support may be limited without a WEBTOON account.
You may have signed in using a social media account (Facebook, Twitter, Google, LINE) and then created a new account with the same email associated with that social media account. Try logging in with your social media account and then with your email to locate the correct account.

Our password recovery email can occasionally end up in your spam folder. If you can’t find the email in your spam folder, go to your email settings and make sure that the webtoons.com domain hasn't been blocked from sending you emails.

How to use
The WEBTOON app allows you to download Originals so you can read your favorite comics on-the-go without a network connection.
Follow these easy steps to download episodes:
1. Select an Original.
2. Tap the (↓) button on the top right corner of the episode list or tap the side menu (︙) on the top right corner of an episode.
3. Choose the episodes you want to download to your device and hit the download button on the top right corner to begin the download!
* Reading downloaded episodes does not use data.
Due to copyright restrictions, each episode can only be downloaded once per account.
Downloaded episodes are stored on your device for 30 days.
You can manage your downloads in the ‘My Series’ tab, under ‘Downloads.’
Mobile: Tap ‘MY’ at the bottom of the home screen on the WEBTOON app to enter the ‘My Series’ page. There, you can see your read history, manage your subscriptions, check downloads, and view your comment activity.
Desktop: Log in, then hover the cursor over your username on the top right of the page. You will find ‘SUBSCRIBED’ and ‘COMMENTS’ in the hover menu.
* You can subscribe to a maximum of 300 Originals and 300 series on Canvas.
Mobile: Tap ‘MORE’ on the bottom right of the home screen, and then tap ‘SETTINGS’ on the WEBTOON app. You can change your push notification settings in the 'NOTIFICATIONS' menu. You can change your email notification settings in the ‘EMAIL’ menu.
Desktop: Log in to the website, then hover the cursor over your username on the top right of the webpage. You can find ‘Account’ in the hover menu. Once you select ‘Account’, you can change your email notification settings in the section ‘Email Notification’.
Mobile: Newsletters are only sent if you logged in with your email address and have email notifications enabled. Tap ‘MORE’ on the bottom right of the home screen, and then tap ‘SETTINGS’. You can change your email notification settings in the ‘EMAIL’ menu.
Desktop: Log in to the website, then hover the cursor over your username on the top right of the webpage. You can find ‘Account’ in the hover menu. Once you select ‘Account’, you can change your email notification settings in the section ‘Email Notification’.
Mobile: To share a series, tap the ‘Share icon on the top rite of the episode list to share the series. If you want to share an individual episode you’re reading, tap any panel to show the top menu, tap the dropdown menu on the top right and you’ll find the ‘Share’ button.
Desktop: To share a series, click the social media button on the right of the episode list to share the series. If you want to share an individual episode you’re reading, click any panel to show the top menu, then click the social media buttons located on the top right.
1. Tap on the ‘MORE’ tab.
2. Tap on ‘SETTINGS’.
3. Scroll to ‘OPTIONS’ and tap ‘Content Language’.
4. Select the language.
Your history, subscriptions, and downloads do not carry over to different display languages.
* Some of our series are unavailable in multiple languages.
If you experience trouble downloading the app, check your network connection. We recommend being on a Wi-Fi network when downloading the app.
Cancel or delete any download progress and try downloading our app again.
You might be unable to download the app due to insufficient storage on your device.
Try to free up some space by deleting unused apps, media, or cache.
Try resetting your network settings if you’re experiencing trouble connecting to WEBTOON.
Android Devices:
1. Go to your phone’s settings.
2. Tap on ‘Connections’.
3. Select ‘Mobile Networks’.
4. Tap on ‘Access Point Names’.
5. Open the side menu (︙) on the top right and ‘Reset to default’.
The location of settings may vary depending on the device.
iPhones:
1. Go to your phone’s settings.
2. Tap on ‘General’.
3. Select ‘Reset’.
4. Tap on ‘Reset Network Settings’ and confirm your action.
If you continue to experience problems after resetting your network settings, contact us at Customer Care so we can look into your issue.
Check your network connection. If your network is unstable, you might have trouble loading images in the app.

Your app display language settings should not change after updating. You can change your language settings by following these steps:
1. Tap on the ‘MORE’ tab.
2. Tap on ‘SETTINGS’.
3. Scroll to ‘OPTIONS’ and tap ‘Content Language’.
4. Select the language.
If you continue to experience problems changing your app display language, try changing your device's language settings.

Check to see if you are logged in to the correct account. It's possible that either:
1. You accidentally created a new account by signing in via social media (Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc), while the original account uses email login, or vice versa. To access your original account, please login using the correct sign in method that was used for the original account.
2. Reading history is stored on device, not on your account. If you recently you upgraded your device, or re-installed the WEBTOON app, your reading history is reset. However, all your subscriptions should be available.
If you are using an iPhone, it's possible that you used the guest-user feature to purchase Coins. However, Coins purchased using iOS guest login are not saved to a WEBTOON account, and therefore lost if you logged out. Additionally, user support may be limited without a WEBTOON account.

Check ‘Notifications’ in ‘Settings’ to make sure push notifications are enabled.
If notifications are enabled, check your device’s push notification settings. If you have restricted app notifications in your device’s settings, the WEBTOON push notifications may not display correctly.
Reading History Sync is a function that saves your reading history to your WEBTOON account, allowing you to continue reading where you left off. With this feature, you will be able to maintain your reading history across all your signed-in devices, even when you change your device or reinstall the app. This information will be reflected on the below pages:

However, you must proceed with a one-time sync to keep your existing reading history.
You can do so on the screens shown below.

Your reading history will not by synced properly if there is not enough storage left on your device.
Please delete large videos, photos and any unused apps installed on the device to clear up device storage. After freeing up storage space, you can proceed with sync from the below screens.

Coins/Unlocking Episodes
Coins are currency that’s exclusive to the WEBTOON app on Android and iOS. You can use Coins to unlock Fast Pass or completed series available through Daily Pass to read ahead and support your favorite Creators. The number of Coins you need to use for each episode may vary depending on the WEBTOON series.
Coins can also be used to unlock Daily Pass episodes. For each Daily Pass series, you will be able to unlock one Daily Pass episode for free each day. Each unlocked DP episode will be available for 14 days. You can also unlock the episodes using Coins, and these episodes will be available to you for as long as the series is on WEBTOON.
A valid WEBTOON account is required in order to purchase Coins. Create a WEBTOON account using an email address or a social media account to enjoy all content on WEBTOON!
If you are using an iPhone, you can also use the guest-user feature to purchase Coins. However, please note that Coins purchased using iOS guest login are not saved to a WEBTOON account, and therefore may be lost if you log out. Additionally, user support may be limited without a WEBTOON account.
Coins are not interchangeable between Android and iOS due to the platform providers' policies.
Platform providers (Google, Apple) restrict importing of payment information stored on other platforms or third parties. Please refer to the information below for more details.

Once you’re logged into WEBTOON, you can purchase Coins directly from the Coin Shop. The link to the Coin Shop is at the top right of the ‘My Series’ Screen. You can also access the Coin Shop by tapping the episode that you’d like to unlock on series available through Fast Pass or Daily Pass.

The “Payment in progress” message appears when you attempt to make a payment again while a payment is already in progress. If you attempt to make another payment before a previous payment is complete, the system automatically blocks any payments from being made. If you see this message, close the payment screen and try again after five minutes.
The Coin balance on your account is retrieved automatically if your new device runs on the same operating system as your previous device.
If you switch to a mobile device running on a different operating system (e.g., Android to iOS, iOS to Android), your Coin balance on your previous device does not transfer automatically to your new device.

Coins may be added to your balance for the following reasons:
1) A purchase was refunded due to service issues.
Your Coin balance may increase if your content purchase was refunded due to service issues. You can go to ‘MORE’ to check your Coin balance.
2) You won Coins in an event.
You may have automatically received Coins for winning an event. Please check the email associated with your WEBTOON account for the event announcement.

Fast Pass lets you read the latest episode on certain series earlier than the regular release date. Look for episodes that display the Fast Pass icon, and you can access them with Coins. If you think you can wait instead, all Fast Pass episodes become free after a specific period of time.
The price for Fast Pass may differ depending on the series. Check the amount of Coins required from the pop-up information which appears before you unlock Fast Pass for a paid episode. Once you’ve unlocked an episode with Fast Pass, you’ll always have access to it while the series remains on our service.
We do not allow refunds for unlocked episodes.

If you can’t find Coins you’ve purchased or episodes you’ve unlocked, any of these situations might apply:
1. You may have accessed a free episode thinking you unlocked it with Coins.
Sometimes readers may confuse reading a free episode with unlocking the episode. Please go to the ‘My Series’ page and click on the Coin icon to check your history and all unlocked episodes.
2. You logged in with a different account.
You may have used a different login method (e.g. email, Facebook, Twitter, LINE, Google). Please try logging into the account that you used to make your purchases.
3. Your app data was refreshed incorrectly after updating the app.
Your purchase history may not be accurate if your app data was not updated properly. If you don’t see your Coins, try checking your balance after closing the app completely and starting the app again.
4. Android Coins are not interchangeable with iOS Coins.
Coins are not interchangeable between Android and iOS due to platform providers' policies.

You can review the details of your Free Coins by going to the ‘MY’ tab, tapping ‘My Coins’ and scrolling to ‘ADDED’. You can also view from which events the Coins are received.
If you are looking for the Bonus Coins you received when you purchased regular Coins, please note that Bonus Coins are not displayed separately. The Bonus Coins are added to your regular Coins. For example, if you already had 10 Coins on your account, and then purchased ‘90 Coins + 10 Bonus Coins’, your ‘Purchased’ number of Coins will be displayed as 110 (10 Coins + 90 Coins + 10 Free Coins).

You can use Free Coins the same way you use regular Coins to unlock episodes.
Free Coins carry the same value as regular Coins (1 Regular Coin = 1 Free Coin).
If you have any Free Coins, they are used first when you unlock an episode. Your regular Coins are used after all your Free Coins have been used.
All Free Coins have a specific expiration date which will be stated upon award. Remaining unused Free Coins will be removed from your Coin balance at the stated expiration date.
You can check the expiration date of your Free Coins at any time by going to the ‘MY’ tab and tapping ‘My Coins’. Please note that purchased Coins have no expiration date.
Free Coins have an expiration date. You can check to see if your Free Coins expired by going to the ‘MY’ tab, selecting ‘My Coins’ and going to the ‘ADDED’ section.
Any Free Coins on your account are used first when you unlock an episode on a series available through Fast Pass or Daily Pass. Your regular Coins are only used once there are no Free Coins remaining on your account.

The number of Coins required to unlock an episode after a completed series is locked depends by each series. You will see the amount of Coins required for each series in the pop-up which appears before you unlock an episode. You can access any episode you unlocked using Coins from your account while the respective series remain on our service!
''Episode Bundle' is an option for users to unlock multiple episodes at once with Coins if they are reading a completed series that is locked.
The number of episodes in an 'Episode Bundle' may vary across series. Any individual episodes you have already unlocked using Coins and/or any episodes that are currently available because you used Daily Pass will automatically be excluded from the 'Episode Bundle.'
You can access your unlocked episodes from the 'UNLOCKED' page in the 'My Series' tab.
Daily Pass allows you to read 1 or more episodes for free after a completed series is becomes a Daily Pass series.
Through the new Daily Pass offering for completed series, we can better support creators by giving more promotional support, as well as help them earn more revenue for completed works. These series have been popular in the past, and with the Daily Pass program, we are able to offer additional monetization opportunities for the creators and support their future projects.
For each Daily Pass series, you will be able to unlock one Daily Pass episode each day. Each unlocked DP episode will be available for 14 days. You can also unlock the episodes using Coins, and these episodes will be available to you for as long as the series is on WEBTOON.

You can use promotion codes on WEBTOON app versions 2.4.4 and above. If you are using an older version, please update your app to the latest version. For app versions 2.4.4 and above, you can enter your promotion code by going to the Coin Shop and selecting the Promotion Code menu.
You can also use promotion codes on our mobile web and PC web service. For mobile web, please go to MORE > PROMO CODE to enter your promotion code. For PC web, please go to your account page to access the Promotion Coin menu
Daily Pass Original is a WEBTOON-exclusive Original series that are launched fully complete. For each Daily Pass series, users will be able to unlock one Daily Pass episode each day. Each unlocked DP episode will be available for 14 days. You can also unlock the episodes using Coins, and these episodes will be available to you for as long as the series is on WEBTOON.
Publishing on WEBTOON Canvas
All the Creator tools are on our desktop website, as our mobile app is primarily focused on the reader experience.
1. Click ‘Publish’ in the top upper right corner to get started!

Your series may have been taken down due to violating our Comunity Policy and Uploading Guidelines or Terms of Service.
Please review the Community Policy and Uploading Guidelines and once you’ve made the necessary edits to your content, contact us at Customer Care with the following information:
• Name of your Series
• Your username, or nickname on WEBTOON
• Episode Titles (if specific episodes were taken down).
Including this information will facilitate the process in getting your series restored.

• URL of the infringing Series
• Proof of ownership of content (i.e. link to original posting or PSD file)
We will review your report and take the necessary actions.

The required image size for square thumbnails must be 1080x1080px, and the maximum file size is 500KB. The required image size for vertical thumbnails must be 1080x1920px, and the maximum file size is 700KB. Furthermore, the specific format of the thumbnail needs to be in .JPG, .JPEG, or .PNG
If you are struggling to match the required image size and the maximum file size, we recommend exporting your thumbnail as JPG, or looking into an image compression tool.
A Creator Profile page for your account will be automatically activated if you have a published series on CANVAS. New CANVAS Creators will have access to their Creator Profile when they have successfully published their series on CANVAS. Once activated, your profile page will remain even if you delete all of your published series on CANVAS. If you wish to delete your profile page, please contact us at webtoonsupport@webtoon.com to deactivate.

From the latest version of the app, go to the MY tab and click on your profile picture on the upper right to access your profile page. From your profile page, you can create a new post by clicking on the pencil icon in the bottom right corner. Please note that creating a new post is currently only available in the WEBTOON app.
<How to edit a post>
1. Go to your profile page from the WEBTOON app.
2. Click the ... button on the upper right side of the post that was removed to edit.
3. Copy the URL of the post and include the post URL in your email.

You can set a bio, profile picture, nickname, URL, and social media on your profile page. Anything that violates our Community Guidelines may be removed.
Ad Revenue Sharing Program
Our Ad Revenue Sharing Program is designed to provide a sustainable revenue stream for creators. Basically, we place ads in association with your series and share that ad revenue with you!
If you find any intrusive ads, contact us at Customer Care for more help with a screenshot of the ad. We’ll review your report and investigate the issue.
Follow these steps to join the Ad Revenue Sharing Program:
1. You will find the ‘AD SHARING’ tab under ‘MY WEBTOON’ if you are publishing one or more series on your WEBTOON account.
2. You can join the Ad Revenue Sharing Program by clicking the ‘JOIN’ button, selecting your creator type, and agreeing to the Ad Revenue Sharing Program Terms of Service.
3. Make sure to read the Terms of Service thoroughly.
After joining the Ad Revenue Sharing Program, you can apply for Ad Display on each of your eligible series. Requirements for being eligible are:
① Over 40,000 Global Monthly Pageviews; AND
② Over 1,000 Total Subscribers
* Calculation of Global monthly Pageviews and Total Subscribers are based on the last day of the previous month.
Once your application is submitted, we will review your content and account activity for approval.
This may take a few weeks. WEBTOON reserves the right to approve or disapprove any requested Ad Display. Status updates will be available under the ‘AD SHARING’ tab.
Once you have been accepted to the Ad Revenue Sharing Program and have requested Ad Display for a particular series, you will be in our queue for review! This may take a few weeks.
We want to secure a stable inflow of ads for all of our Creators. Thus, we need to conduct a comprehensive review of every comic with an Ad Display request to make sure that we create an advertiser friendly environment.
We want to keep this program sustainable for everyone involved, and open the possibilities of more revenue in the future!
To prevent any delays in your application, we recommend reviewing our Community Policy and Uploading Guidelines, Ad Revenue Sharing Program Terms of Service and our Ad partner’s guidelines (Google AdSense) as well.
When you join the Ad Revenue Sharing Program, you will be able to access the ‘AD SHARING’ tab on your profile.
Your payment will be posted to your account on a monthly basis and updated on the 21st day of the following month.
When you reach the minimum threshold of $100, you will receive a payment by the 15th day of the following month in $100 increments.
For Example:
● You have a previous balance of $20 in your Account as of June 1.
- Scenario 1:
You earn $70 in Net Ad Revenue during the month of June. This amount will update on your dashboard on July 21st. Your balance will then be $90 on July 21st.
(Previous balance $20 + June Net Ad Revenue of $70)
No payment will be made in July as your minimum did not reach $100.
The $90 will carry over to August.
- Scenario 2:
You earn $110 in Net Ad Revenue during the month of June. This amount will update on your dashboard on July 21st. Your balance will then be $130 on July 21st.
(Previous balance $20 + June Net Ad Revenue of $110).
You will be paid $100 at the end of July and your Account will have a remaining balance of $30 which will carry over to August.
The payment threshold is $100 dollars. If your balance is under the threshold amount, it will not be paid out and will carry over to the next month.
If your balance is $100 or more, please make sure you have registered a valid Patreon ID in the ‘AD SHARING’ tab.
If your balance is $100 or more and you have registered a valid PayPal ID or Patreon ID, please check your email inbox or your series’ status in the ‘AD SHARING’ tab to confirm if you have been restricted from the Ad Revenue Sharing Program.
If you have been restricted, or your Ad Revenue Sharing Program has been cancelled, you will not receive your balance.

Once you register a valid PayPal ID or Patreon ID in the ‘AD SHARING’ tab, we will pay your Ad Revenue to your PayPal or Patreon Account.
Please be sure to input the correct PayPal ID or Patreon ID. We will not be able to recover anything that is paid incorrectly!
If you do not register a valid PayPal ID or Patreon ID, payment will not be issued and your balance will continue to accrue.
Any payments that are made to you through our Ad Revenue Sharing Program will be taxed according to the tax laws where you reside.
If there are any taxes associated with the payments you receive, you will need to make sure to file and pay the respective taxes.
We recommend that you reach out to a tax professional in your area if you have any questions.
If there are two or more Creators behind one series, the Creator who uploads the series will be responsible for distributing the Ad Revenue according to any agreements the Creators have.
WEBTOON does not have any responsibilities in arbitrating any disagreements between Creators.
You can turn off Ad Display for any of your series at any time by clicking on 'Cancel' next to your series title from the 'AD SHARING' tab of your account dashboard. You can also permanently end your participation in the Ad Revenue Sharing Program by opting out whenever you like. To opt out, click the 'Opt out' button at the bottom of the 'AD SHARING' page.
If you turn off Ad Display or opt yourself out of the program, you won’t receive payment for the balance that accrues after the date when you turned off Ad Display and/or opted out of the program.
If you opt out or delete your account, any balance in your account above $10 from the time you opt out will be paid to you as long as you maintain a valid PayPal ID or Patreon ID. If you select PayPal as your Payment Method, you must register your Payment Information to receive the accrued balance on your account. You can also choose not to receive the accrued balance on your account when you opt-out of the program.
If you change your mind, you can rejoin 2 months after the day you opt out. Once you’ve opted out, any records will be deleted completely and can’t be restored if you rejoin.
If you just turn off Ad Display without opting out of the program, the $100 payment threshold will still apply.
