Get the lowdown on all the lingo related to the new Hyper Update!
The Hyper Update hits on Sep. 21, and Hyper Evolution and advent stages are appearing in the game for the first time!
But what exactly are Hyper Evolution and advent stages, you ask? Well, you need wonder no more, because we've put together a handy glossary to help you get in the know about these new terms!
Read on to get up to date with the new update!
1. Hyper Evolved Rangers
- Up until now, the only evolution option for 8-Star Rangers was Ultimate Evolution, but after the update you'll be able to choose between Ultimate Evolution and a new kind of evolution, Hyper Evolution!
- Moreover, you will be able to use the Switch option to convert Ultimate Evolved Rangers to Hyper Evolved Rangers! That's 2 different ways in which you can get the new Hyper Rangers!
2. Differences between Hyper Evolved and Ultimate Evolved Rangers
- Both Ultimate and Hyper Evolved Rangers have 2 Skills and 1 Ability. However, the second Skill will differ depending on the evolution type, and Hyper Evolved Rangers can have a second Ability as well. But Ultimate Evolved Rangers do have one thing over Hyper Evolved Rangers: shorter redeploy times.
Here's a summary of the differences between Hyper Evolved and Ultimate Evolved Rangers:
- Appearance
- Different second Skills (in some cases)
- Only Hyper Evolved Rangers possess a second Ability
- Ultimate Evolved Rangers have shorter redeploy times than Hyper Evolved Rangers
3) Switch
- The Switch feature enables you to switch between Ultimate and Hyper Evolutions. You can turn Ultimate Evolved Rangers into Hyper Evolved Rangers, and vice-versa.
- The feature itself is called Switch, and the action of changing a Ranger from one evolution type to another is called switching.
- You can switch a Ranger any time as long as you have the required evolution materials and Coins. There is no limit to the number of times that you can switch a Ranger.
4. Hyper Leonard
- Hyper Leonard is a new type of Leonard that can be used to increase Hyper Evolved Rangers' maximum levels.
5. Elements
- Rangers can have 1 of the following 3 types: Fire, Water, or Wood. Certain elements deal extra damage against certain others, with Fire being strong against Wood, Wood strong against Water, and Water strong against Fire.
6. Unlocking elements
- Following the Hyper Update, new Rangers will appear with their elements unlocked.
- Rangers that were issued before the update may have elements, but they will not be unlocked. You can unlock elements for pre-Hyper Update Rangers by collecting special element unlock materials.
Element unlock materials can be found in the Moving Glacier, Crimson Volcano, and Verdant Tree special stage Planets, as well as in advent stages.
7. What are advent stages?
- Advent stages are a new type of stage where you can get the evolution material Rangers that are required for Hyper Evolution.
- One of the main features that marks advent stages apart from other stages is the obstacle effects that obstruct your Rangers' attacks. Otherwise, although advent stages require some different tactics, they are similar to other stages in that you have to select difficulty levels, deploy Rangers, and take out Bosses.
What rewards can I get in advent stages?
- Evolution materials (both for unlocking elements and for Ultimate Evolutions)
- Hyper Evolution materials (8-Star Rangers)
Note: The higher the difficulty level of stages you clear, the more likely you are to obtain 8-Star Rangers that can be used as evolution materials for Hyper Evolution.
8. Abilities
- In advent stages, effects that make Rangers fall asleep, inflict damage on Rangers, and otherwise obstruct Ranger's attacks will be automatically applied. Abilities can be used to counter these effects.
It will be difficult to clear advent stages without Rangers with Abilities to counter the effects that are applied to the stage you are attempting. Be sure to check the recommended Abilities for each stage before entering.
