As soon as we finish reviewing your application, the LINE Pay Identity Verification (LINE Pay本人確認) official account will notify you of your results via chat message. If you receive a message saying your identity could not be verified, please check the reason and apply again.
When applying for identity verification, please keep in mind all of the following important points.
Entering your name
• On the Select name type pop-up, select the way your name is written on your ID (Kanji, Alphabet, or Kanji and alphabet).
• If you have a middle name, make sure to enter it exactly as it appears on your ID (and in the same order).
• If your ID shows your name written in more than one way (e.g. married name, maiden name, real name, common name), choose only one of the names to enter in the kanji name fields.
• Enter the reading of your kanji or alphabet name in katakana in the katakana name fields.
Note: If the name registered to your LINE Pay account and the name registered to your bank account are different, deposits from the bank account may not be reflected properly, and you may have to request a reversal of the transaction from your bank.
Entering your address
• Enter the details of your address (e.g. apartment/building name, room number) exactly as they are written on your ID.
Note: If the address on your ID has been updated, we will review the latest address that appears.
• Enter your street, block number, and room number only once.
Note: For example, if your address is "●●町3-2-1", do not enter it as "●●町3丁目3-2-1". (The city block (丁目) is mistakenly entered twice.)
Taking photos of your ID
• Your entire ID must be visible and all the details need to be clear.
• Make sure there is no glare in the photo of your ID.
• Take photos of both sides of your ID if required.
Note: We cannot accept a photo of only the front or back of the ID, or photos of one side from two different IDs.
• (If you're a foreign resident) Make sure to verify your identity with your residence card so we can confirm your period of stay and other details.
Note: This doesn't apply to Special Permanent Residents.
• When you're taking a photo of the thickness of your ID, place it on a surface where its thickness can be confirmed, such as a floor or table, and have the entire ID appear in the photo.
Note: Please also see the "Taking a photo of the side of your ID to show its thickness" section in Verifying your identity to use LINE Money.
• Your application is not accepted because your kanji name uses a character that can't be entered with a smartphone and you had to enter a different character.
• Your application is not accepted because part of the Prefecture/City/Address (都道府県⋅市町村⋅丁目) information doesn't match the address on your ID, even though you entered the correct postal code.
For more information on how to verify your identity, as well as a list of common reasons why verification cannot be completed, see the following LINE BITMAX official blog posts. (Only available in Japanese.)
