Please check all of the important points below before reapplying.
Important:
- Enter your information as it is written on your ID.
- If you have a middle name, make sure to enter it exactly as it appears on your ID (and in the same order).
- Enter the reading of your kanji or English alphabet name in katakana in the katakana name fields.
- Enter your name in katakana accurately. If it's different from the bank account holder's name, deposits from the bank account may not be reflected properly, and you may have to request a reversal of the transaction from your bank.
Important points when taking photos of your ID
• Make sure your entire ID is visible and all the details are clear.• Make sure there is no glare in the photo of your ID.
• Make sure you take photos of both sides of your ID if required.
Note: We cannot accept a photo of only the front or back of the ID, or photos of one side from two different IDs.

• Make sure you're holding your smartphone correctly over the IC chip in your My Number Card.
Note: The way to read your My Number Card with your smartphone differs depending on your device model. For the proper way to scan your My Number Card, see Positioning your IC card with your smartphone on the Public Certification Service for Individuals portal site. (Only available in Japanese.)
• Keep your smartphone close to your My Number Card until it has finished scanning.
• Do not move your My Number Card until it has finished being scanned.
• Take your smartphone or My Number Card out of its case.
• Avoid scanning it near metal desks or objects.
• Remove any cables attached to your device (e.g. charging cable, wired earphones).
• If you're using an Android device, make sure the NFC or Osaifu-Keitai (おサイフケータイ) feature is turned on.
• Turn off Airplane mode.

If you don't know your passwords, you won't be able to apply for identity verification by scanning your My Number Card. Please consult at the municipal office of your certificate of residence about resetting your passwords.

Your password will lock if you enter it incorrectly three times in a row (including verifying your My Number Card with other services besides LINE).
Electronic signature password (6–16 alphanumeric characters)
Your password will lock if you enter it incorrectly five times in a row (including verifying your My Number Card with other services besides LINE).
You'll be able to unlock or reset both of these passwords at the local municipal office where you're registered as a resident. Please contact your local municipal office for details.

If you're a Japanese citizen
1. From the Wallet tab on LINE, tap LINE BITMAX.2. On the LINE BITMAX home screen, tap Join now > Agree, then enter the information for the items on the "Enter your personal info" screen.
3. Set a passcode.
4. Select Japanese citizens.
5. Proceed to the screen to scan your My Number Card and enter the password of the electronic certificate for the bearer's signature.
6. Scan your My Number Card with LINE on your smartphone to read your name, address, and date of birth information.
7. Once your information has been read, enter your full name in katakana to verify your identity.
Note: Make sure to enter the katakana for your full name accurately when you register it. If it's not accurate, you won't be able to perform some actions (e.g. withdrawing money to your bank account) without issue.
8. If there are no issues with the information you entered, tap Confirm and proceed.
9. Finish applying for Simple identity verification.
If you're a foreign resident
1. From the Wallet tab on LINE, tap LINE BITMAX.2. On the LINE BITMAX home screen, tap Join now > Agree, then enter the information for the items on the "Enter your personal info" screen.
3. Set a passcode.
4. Select Foreign residents.
5. Proceed to the screen to scan your My Number Card and enter the password of the electronic certificate for the bearer's signature.
6. Scan your My Number Card with LINE on your smartphone to read your name, address, and date of birth information.
7. Once your information has been read, enter your full name in katakana to verify your identity.
Note: Make sure to enter the katakana for your full name accurately when you register it. If it's not accurate, you won't be able to perform some actions (e.g. withdrawing money to your bank account) without issue.
8. A pop-up will appear to confirm whether you meet the requirements for being a resident of Japan. Select the option that applies to you.
Note: Please apply only if you're working at an office in Japan or at least six months have passed since you entered Japan.
9. If you selected I qualify, follow the on-screen instructions and take photos of the front and back of your residence card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate.
10. Finish applying for identity verification.
We will notify you of the results of our review via the LINE BITMAX Notifications (LINE BITMAXお知らせ) official LINE account.
